just a little over a week after alex bought their new guitar, the two of us are on our way to a little getaway in the hamptons.

i had suggested the idea as a joke, really. well, i had planned on going to the hamptons this weekend anyways, because i wanted to go to the beach and swim before september and the colder months were here, but alex coming with me? i had only jokingly asked if they wanted to come with me, and i was more than surprised when they had agreed to it.

"what are your plans for this weekend?" i asked alex.

the two of us were in the practice building after an entire afternoon of practice. jessie and miguel had left some time ago, but me and alex had been on our phones and distracted since, and before, they left.

alex looked up from their phone and over at me. they were sitting on the couch, while i was sitting in one of the barstools. they raised a brow. "nothing. why?" they asked skeptically.

"well, i've been planning on going to the hamptons. since you're doing nothing this weekend, you should come with me," i suggested in a teasing tone.

i watched as their head tilted just slightly. "you want me to?"

my brows raised. "yeah. only if you want to though!" i added quickly. "you don't have to, if you don't want to."

their lips pursed for a moment. "alright, sure," they agreed. i don't think i succeeded in hiding my shock, but they didn't mention it. "how long do you plan on being there?"

"well, honestly, probably for only a day," i shrugged.

they subtly gestured me over to them. i got up, and i walked towards them. "mm... how about, we get a hotel room, and stay there for a night?" as they spoke, i had reached them. they continued to speak as they gently pulled me to straddle their lap; a seat i had gotten quite accustomed to recently. "four plus hours of driving in a day doesn't sound very appealing to me."

it really hasn't taken us long at all to settle into this whole "friends who kiss a lot" thing. if we're hanging out alone, i know that at some point, they're going to pull me into their lap, maybe talk for a few moments, then kiss me.

i'm definitely not complaining though.

"you wanna get a hotel room together?" i raised a brow as they placed their hands on my waist.

they laughed. "you're acting as if we haven't shared one before; granted, that wasn't our choice... but still, it's nothing new," they pointed out.

"well, yeah, but," i started to say, but i stopped. i lifted my hands to hold alex's face between them as i stared at them. i couldn't help but notice the way they melted in my hold. "yeah, i'd be down for that."

their lips turned upwards into a subtle smirk. "then it's settled," they spoke in a soft murmur before their lips were on mine.

i'm now pulling into the parking garage of the hotel we're staying in. it's right by the beach.

i glanced at alex. they were in the passenger seat, and they had it reclined back as far as it could go. their arms were crossed behind their head, and they had a pair of ray-ban clubmaster classics on their face; a style that i didn't think would suit them as well as they do. they had black frames with a gold accent.

alex was dressed in black swim trunks with a light blue, short sleeved button up shirt, meant for days on the beach like this. i had joked earlier that they were dressed like a frat boy, which earned me a glare and a thump on the forehead.
