The little things

The sun had just dipped under the horizon. Casting the sky in a comforting shade of dark blue and orange. The colours contrasting with each other in a beautiful way. I glanced up and stared at the sky with appreciation as I sat next to Din on a rock.

The Tuskens who we had met had invited us to stay with them so they could take us to the Krayt dragon. We all sat around a fire as Din spoke with the Tuskens in their language.

The child was sitting in between Din's legs on the sandy floor. One of the Tusken dogs seemed to be eyeing the child like he was a snack. I made sure to keep an eye on it as it licked its lips.

I kept my eyes locked on the glowing fire in front of me as they talked amongst themselves. The warmth of the flames was licking my skin in a comforting way.

"What am I supposed to do with this?" Cobb Vanth suddenly said. I glanced away from the fire and over to him. He held a round stone-like object in his hand that seemed to have some sort of steam pouring out of it.

"You drink it." Din stated

"It stinks." Cobb Vanth complained

"Do you want their help?" Din asked him rhetorically

"Not if I have to drink this." Cobb Vanth said in disgust

One of the Tuskens suddenly got extremely angry. They spoke loudly and wildly gestured with their hands. I awkwardly looked towards the sky again. Even though I don't know what they are saying, I can tell they are angry.

"He says your people steal their water and now you insult them by not drinking it..." Din translated for him. The Tusken spoke again with angry gestures.

"They know about Mos Pelgo. They know how many sand people you killed." Din translated

"They raided our village. I defended the town." Cobb Vanth said loudly

"Lower your voice." Din warned him.

"I knew this was a bad idea." Cobb Vanth said in aggravation.

"You're agitating them." Din Said. One of the Tuskens rose to his feet in anger.

"These monsters can't be reasoned with." Cobb Vanth said as he rose to his feet.

"Sit back down before I put a hole in ya!" Cobb Vanth yelled as the Tusken yelled at him.

"I'm not going to say it..." Cobb Vanth was quickly cut off when a column of fire shot out between himself and the Tusken.

Din had stood up and used the fire from his vambrace to get them to stop arguing. I raised my eyebrows as I glanced between the three of them. This was going well, not.

Din then began to talk in Tusken to the Tusken.

"What are you telling him?" Cobb Vanth asked

"Same thing I'm telling you. If we fight amongst ourselves, the monster will kill us all." Din stated firmly. Slowly, Cobb Vanth and the Tusken lowered themselves back down onto their seats.

I let out a breathy laugh, that told them.

"Now, how do we kill it?" Din asked in basic as he signed to the Tuskens.

The Tuskens and Din spoke back and forth for another minute before the two Tuskens turned around and walked into the camp.

"Where are they going?" Cobb Vanth asked.

"They're going to rest. As should we." Din stated as he bent down and picked the child up.

"Great. G'night, then." Cobb Vanth said before he stood up and turned on his heels, heading towards the tent that had been given to him for the night.
