Clones

My movements were halted when I turned a corner to find a series of bright red force fields lining the next hallway. The force fields buzzed loudly as I moved back behind the wall so I wouldn't be spotted. In every section of the force fields, there were two Imperial guards standing on either side of the hallway. There looked to be about 6 sections in between the force fields.

Din had also spotted the optical and put his hand out to stop Grogu from walking any further. "The command Center is down there. I don't have any weapons, but your buir does." Din said to Grogu. He then turned his head to me.

"Don't worry, I've got your back." I said as I unhooked my sabers from my belt

"I know you do." Din said with a gentle tone. He then spoke over the comms to R5. "R5." The droid beeped in response.

"There's some barrier shields. I'm gonna need you to deactivate them one at a time. On my command." Din instructed the droid. "Got it?" R5 beeped in response.

Din looked over to me and nodded once, I nodded in response to show him that I was ready. I pressed the buttons on the side of my sabers and ignited them.

"Why don't you let me handle the first one? Then you can get one of their blasters." I offered

"It'll be easier if we take one each." Din stated. I nodded in response.

"Deactivate the first shield." Din said over the comms to R5. It hardly took the droid anytime at all to lower the first red shield. The moment it dropped both Din and I moved to stand in front of the two confused Imperials. Din immediately went in to punch the one on the left so I moved over to the one on the right.

I moved swiftly and jammed my blade straight through his torso, the man groaned and I pulled the blade back out again. The imperial then collapsed backwards and fell off the platform. I spun around to see Din reaching out to grab the blaster in the imperial's hand, but it just slipped through his fingers as the man fell backwards and slipped off of the platform.

"Good job." I said with a small chuckle. Din turned to look at me in a way that showed his exasperation, which only made me want to laugh more.

I glanced over at the next forcefield and my smile slipped off my face. The two Imperial Guards had electrical batons like the red warriors I went up against, though they were of a much smaller size. They also had a large shield held in their other hand.

"Still want to take them together?" I asked him as I gripped my sabers.

"We've got this." Din nodded confidently. He then lent down and picked up a knife from one of the Imperial guards.

"R5. Next shield." Din Said over the Comms. The red shield slid open and the Imperial guards stood in a fighting stance. Din was first to make a move, he rushed forward and kicked one of the men as hard as he could.

I stepped forward after him and engaged the second Imperial. He attempted to clash his electrical baton down on me but I quickly blocked it with one of my sabers. I used my second saber to slice the weapon in half. I then slashed down and cut his thigh. The man yelped and fell down on one knee. Din suddenly appeared from behind me and jabbed one of the electrical barons into his chest. The imperial guard fell onto his side and rolled off of the platform.

I stood up and glanced over at Din who was now armed with a baton and a shield. "Ready for another round?" Din asked me as he rolled his shoulders.

"Absolutely, are you?" I asked as I readjusted my grip on my sabers

"Always. R5, next shield." Din said

The next shield deactivated and opened up to another two imperial guards. Before they could make the first move, I raised both of my hands and channeled the force through me to push them backwards. The two guards grunted as they hit the shield behind them.

Din then immediately ran forward and barrelled into one of the imperials, causing him to hit the shield again and drop his own shield. Din took the moment to grab his blaster and drop the baton, opting for a weapon that he is familiar with.

I turned to the second Imperial Guard as he began to charge towards me. I raised my hand and shoved the shield that he held as hard as I could. Luckily, the force pried it out of his hand and left him defenseless. The Imperial Guard then drew his blaster and began to fire upon me. I blocked the blaster bolts with ease just as my master taught me. I redirected the blaster bolts back at the Imperial Guard. One of the bolts landed straight on his chest and he stumbled back and fell over the side of the platform.

"R5, next shield!" Din called out as he continued to fire at the remaining Imperial guard. No reply came from R5 however as the battle continued. I stepped closer to Din and used the force to throw the Imperial guards blaster out of his hand so he couldn't shoot at Din anymore.

"R5? R5, open the next shield." I asked over the comms. R5 finally beeped and opened up the last shield. Din finally managed to take down the other Imperial just as they slid open. The smoke from the continuous blaster fire worked in our favor as the imperial guards couldn't see us.

Din then ran forward, taking a charge at the last two imperial guards. He slid on his knees and raised his shield, causing one of the guards to jump over his shoulder. The guard landed hard and Din quickly picked up his fallen blaster. He shot at the guard who was still upright and took him out. The second guard began to stir and attempted to sit up, but before he could, I impaled him with my blade.

Din and I were breathing heavily as we stood at the end of the hallway that was full of dead Imperials. My heart was beating painfully against my rib cage from the adrenaline of the fight.

"R5, good job, buddy." Din said over the comms to the droid.

"That wasn't too bad." I said breathlessly as I disengaged my sabers.

"We've dealt with worse." Din shrugged casually. "You did good." He then added

"Thanks. So did you." I returned the compliment.

I then heard the familiar whirring of IG-12 as Grogu made his way around the corner to check on us. Din nodded his head to Grogu to come and follow us. Grogu nodded and carefully made his way over to the two of us. I smiled gently at the child and then we turned and continued on our way.

We walked down another hallway that led to a closed door. The coordinates that R5 gave us told us that Moff Gideon wasn't in this next room, but I couldn't help but be cautious so I held my ignited sabers out in front of me.

The door slowly hissed open, and nothing could have prepared me for what was behind the door. Each side of the corridor held several large containers. The cylinders had a large window that showed the contents of the container. Each one had a greenish liquid that was unmistakably bacta, and there were humans inside. Every single body looked like Moff Gideon.

"Wait here." Din said to Grogu. The two of us cautiously walked down the hallway to the end as Grogu waited patiently for us. Din quickly walked up to a control panel and began to search through the data.

"That's not Gideon. Those are his clones." Din said. My eyes widened as I looked around again.

"Force." I muttered to myself. "The Imperials we've been fighting, they are his clones."

Before Din could reply to me, Grogu suddenly squealed loudly and stepped backwards. I immediately looked over at him with my heart beating heavily. I quickly walked over to him as he continued to look around in a panic.

"Let's go." Din said. I grabbed onto IG-12's arm and gently dragged him with me. Grogu was more than eager to follow me and get back to his dad.

Suddenly, an alarm started to beep and the containers behind us began to explode. The bacta sloshed out onto the hallway floor and Grogu and I sped up. I broke out into a jog to avoid getting caught up in the exploding pods. Being covered in Moff Gideon bacta water is not something I need today, or any day for that matter. We managed to make it out just as the door closed shut and the last pod exploded.

"A little warning next time." I said exasperatedly

"Sorry Cyar'ika." Din Said apologetically. I shook my head with a smile and we began to walk down the next hallway.

"You're just lucky that I didn't get wet." I muttered to him with a smile on my face.
