golden hour

———

Liam stood nervously outside Scarlett's apartment, trying to calm his racing heart. He was dressed in his best suit, with a bouquet of her favorite flowers in his hand.

Tonight was the night he was going to ask Scarlett to be his girlfriend. It was something that had been on his mind for a while now, and he knew that he couldn't keep it bottled up inside any longer.

He took a deep breath and rang the doorbell. Scarlett opened the door, looking as stunning as ever in a red dress that hugged her curves in all the right places.

"Hey, you look amazing," he said, his voice shaking slightly.

"Thanks, you look pretty great yourself," she replied, a smile playing on her lips.

Liam opened the car door for Scarlett after they descended the stairs. As they settled into the car, Liam attempted to initiate small talk but his mind was preoccupied with a question that was burning inside of him.

"Hey, how have you been doing?" Liam inquired.

"I've been doing great, and I'm assuming you're doing well too," Scarlett replied, warm smile on her face. Liam reciprocated her smile before focusing entirely on the road ahead of him.

"When is your next concert?" Scarlett looked over at Liam.

"I'm not quite sure, but I think it will be next year. Makes sense, seeing as we've performed six times this year alone," Liam explained.

"Wow, no wonder you guys are so famous," Scarlett exclaimed, expressing her surprise. "You'll figure it out, I have faith in you," she added, smiling reassuringly.

"Who is your favorite Marvel hero, Liam?" Scarlett asked.

"Is it a crime to say Spider-Man?" Liam joked. "What about a redheaded heroine?" Scarlett teased.

"Jean Grey," Liam replied.

"How about an older Marvel hero whose name ends with 'off'?" Scarlett smirked.

"Wanda Maximoff." Liam replied.

"Try someone even older," Scarlett challenged.

"Are you trying to get me to say Black Widow?" Liam laughed.

"It's a mystery," Scarlett replied with a smirk.

As they arrived at the restaurant, Liam's nerves started to take over again. He tried to steady his shaky hands as they sat down at their table.

Dinner was amazing, as always. They talked about everything from work to their favorite songs. Liam couldn't help but marvel at how easy it was to talk to Scarlett, how they could communicate without words.

"Try this." Liam sliced the tiramisu cake and held it out to Scarlett. She hummed in satisfaction as a smile crept onto Liam's lips.

"That's really good."

"I know something else that's good." Liam sliced the chocolate cake and held it out once more to Scarlett.

After dessert, Liam took a deep breath and held out his hand to Scarlett.

"Scarlett, there's something I want to ask you," he said, his heart racing.

She looked at him expectantly, a small smile on her lips.

"I know this might sound silly, but I want to know if you'll be my girlfriend," Liam asked, feeling a rush of emotions as he spoke.

Scarlett's eyes widened in surprise as she let out a small laugh.

"Liam, I was joking when I dared you to make it official between us. But since you're serious, then I will be too," she said, taking his hand in hers.

Liam's heart swelled with happiness as he gazed deeply into her eyes, feeling like he was on top of the world.

Fast forward to a few hours later, they arrived at Scarlett's apartment. Liam held her hand tight as they climbed the stairs to her room.

Once they entered, Liam took a deep breath and made his way over to her piano. He sat down and started to play a melody that he had been working on for weeks.

As the notes flowed through the air, Scarlett stood behind him, watching him play with wonder. His fingers moved effortlessly along the keys, and it was clear that this song was special for him.

When the song ended, Liam turned to face Scarlett, his hands trembling with nerves once again.

"That song was beautiful," she said, smiling warmly at him.

"Thanks. I wrote it for you," he said quietly.

Scarlett's eyes widened in surprise, tears glistening in the corners of her eyes.

"You're amazing, Liam," she whispered, pulling him into a hug.

As they held each other close, Liam knew that he had made the right decision. He had opened up his heart to Scarlett, and she had accepted him with open arms.

They may have been in the early stages of their relationship, but Liam knew that what they had was special. They had a connection that not many people had, and he was grateful for her every single day.

As they pulled away from the hug, Liam felt a sense of relief wash over him. He knew that they had a long journey ahead of them, but for now, he was content just being in Scarlett's arms.

Liam's POV

Upon waking up, I realized I was smiling unconsciously, which was the first thing I did. The next step was to verify if what happened last night was real, so I quickly reached for my phone.

Satisfied, I sat upright and proceeded to the bathroom to freshen up. I splashed my face with cold water before brushing my teeth.

While getting ready, a note caught my attention on the nightstand. It was from her.

"Good morning, Liam. I had to leave early for work, but I cooked breakfast for you downstairs. Enjoy it, rockstar!"

I couldn't help but smile at her affectionate nickname for me.

Responding to my growling stomach, I headed down to the kitchen where a mouthwatering aroma welcomed me. It was the scent of waffles, which I consumed with great delight.

I was fully impressed by her cooking skills and how easily she could captivate me with her talents.

After finishing my meal, I decided to engage in some mindless activity and began scrolling through Netflix. Eventually, I stumbled upon an intriguing movie and surrendered to the cozy, cloud-like atmosphere of the morning.
