" the biggest saint is a sinner. "
I CAN'T SEEM to get my mind off of what happened last Friday. Especially when the woman I had corrupted that night is now sitting at a desk near mine.
My eyes are locked on her, each and every movement she makes. As usual, when she clocked into our system, I called her in and made her sit at the desk facing my right side positioned just slightly to the left in front of mine. At this point, it may as well just be her desk. I don't mind the thought of that.
A small, golden name plate with her name on it decorating her desk in my office.
I smile to myself at the idea. It's decided, I'll be asking Ms. Rodriguez when I meet her to request for Aurelia to start packing her things so she can move into my office. Small, but big in certain circumstances, steps. Most CEOs don't let their secretaries stay in their offices like this, even simply talking back they don't allow, though I'm not like any of them.
I'm a billionaire, almost a trillionaire, who offered a dirty contract to his pretty little secretary, and she gladly accepted. I'm the perfect mixture of professional and unprofessional, but there are only two people that have ever seen my unprofessional side. Aurelia Emberlyn and.. A certain man from my past.
Five raps similar to the tune of a certain Frozen song can be heard from the opposite side of the wooden door. Aurelia looks at me with scrunched eyebrows before standing up and going to open the door. The knocks don't stop until the very second she opens it, though the man's face is blocked by her figure turned on me. I move my head side to side, trying to see who it is and when I get a glimpse of his smile, I immediately know.
Grinning ear to ear, showing off his pearly white teeth as he smirks at my secretary is the only other person that's seen me drunk. Saint Faiyez. He's charismatic, attractive, but one hell of an asshole. Aurelia moves to the side, letting him in which gives me a much better view of him. His brunette hair is curly, green eyes similar to mine, and overall a face I'll never forget.
"Why are you here, Saint?" I ask harshly.
He chuckles and says, "No 'Hi, Saint' or 'How have you been, Saint?'" With the tilt of his head.
His response earns him a soft chuckle from me. It's been a while, though he still manages to make me chuckle or laugh. I take a quick glance at Aurelia, who's back at her desk, before my eyes fixate on my computer once again. "Doesn't answer my question, though." I sternly say.
"Just wanted to visit my best friend! Who's that girl over there?" He's beaming with a smile before leaning forward, lowering his voice with the last few words. His index finger points to Aurelia's direction, and I glare at him. Saint immediately backs away with his hands raised, and he laughs which catches her attention.
Our eyes meet, and I motion for her to come towards us. She stands up and starts walking towards us, my gaze shifts over to Saint who's evidently checking her out as she passes by him and stands next to me. "This is Ms. Emberlyn, my very kind secretary." I introduce her, and Saint looks shocked with how I praise her. I can see her smile at him in the reflection of my computer's black screen, my jaw clenches and my grip on my mouse tightens.
I keep it professional by saying, "Aurelia, this is Mr. Faiyez, an old friend of mine." And she reaches her hand out for a handshake, but Saint has other plans. Instead, he takes her hand and plants a soft kiss on the back of it, making Aurelia awkwardly chuckle. He finally lets go of her hand, and I want to cut off his hand for kissing, let alone touching, her.
"Please, just call me Saint. Though, I'm quite the opposite of that if you know what I mean." He raises his eyebrows at her with a smirk and I can feel her warmth increase. My mind pictures her cheeks tinted a rosy pink and her contagious smile plastered on her face.
When I look back at Aurelia, my mental image comes to life and my other hand balls up into a fist. Saint is making my secretary blush. And I could never hate him more than this moment.
"I think that's enough, Saint."
"Don't be so tight, Uno. It's a polite gesture from a man to a woman." He looks over to her with the tilt of his head.
Uno. He digs out that nickname that was already buried deep into the ground. I don't have time for this bullshit. If he came all the way here to New York just to fuck with me, then he can consider his money wasted. Whatever it is he's doing, calling me that nickname, and flirting with my Aurelia, I'm not enjoying it a single bit.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath, using the few seconds of calmness to unclench my jaw and relax my hands until my peace is cut off by Saint's voice. "Anyway, I'll be staying in New York for quite a while." He trails off and I furrow my eyebrows.
"Meaning, I'll need a job and.. Considering my experience with fashion, I was thinking you could.." He shrugs. "Maybe offer me a job?" His tone goes up a notch and he tilts his head to the side. I hear Aurelia inhale sharply behind me. I immediately stop typing on my keyboard, my fingers are frozen in place as I slowly turn my head towards his direction.
"A job, Saint. You want me to offer you a job here? At my billion dollar company?" I repeat to him his own words, trying to get him to understand how intellectually inadequate I'd have to be to agree to something like that. He nods slowly and I can't help but chuckle, Aurelia follows.
"The only job here that I'd trust you with is a janitor."
Saint scoffs, and I turn my head back to my monitor and continue working. Every now and then, I take glances at my secretary, who's still standing behind me and now has a tablet in her hands. I now realize I hadn't dismissed her earlier, which leaves her stuck in this position, but it's evident she doesn't mind. She's busy pressing buttons and making arrangements I had asked her to, while Saint stands like an idiot in front of my desk.
It's been months, and he seriously hasn't changed. His personality is still as bright as ever and his stupid responses can make anyone laugh. Even Aurelia, which angers me slightly, but my harsh feelings are like a flame that only grows bigger when water is poured on it.
The water is the sight of my childhood friend eyeing my secretary.
He's biting down on his lower lip, pockets stuffed with his hands, and his gaze can't seem to stop roaming her body. He's exploring every single inch of her, but I'm not jealous. Of course not. I've seen what he hasn't, and soon enough, I'll be touching more than he hasn't and he ever will. At the same time, I can't entirely blame Saint for staring, because I would too if I was in his position.
Aurelia is completely oblivious. Her newly done nails are tapping against the screen while her other hand moves up to tuck strands of hair behind her ear. This gives me a better view of her face, and I notice her bottom lip is stuck out as she starts struggling with a certain task. All of her attention is on her work, and that's something I admire about her. Despite how damn beautiful she is, she's also effortlessly full of talent.
The perfect mix of beauty and brains.
Saint clears his throat and that brings me back to reality. I avert my gaze from Aurelia and focus on him, who has one arm over the other and his head sticking out slightly. He looks at me with an expression that screams 'bad attitude' which leads me to despise him even more.
"You can find a job elsewhere, Saint. You have good experience anyway, and a great personality." I say monotonously with a hint of sarcasm and Aurelia lets out a soft laugh, making me smile.
I quickly pull myself together and wear my poker face yet again and tell Saint, "I wish you the best of luck, but we have a meeting to get to." I stand up and grasp onto Aurelia's elbow, moving her away from Saint.
"You're the worst best friend ever." Saint spits out, and I glare at him.
