Part 64 - monster

We quickly made our way far away from any humans, into Zero's bedroom. I fell onto his bed, gasping for air.

"That was too close,"
He said, moving the hair out of his face.

"It was dangerous,"
I said.
"If merely one of us lost control, it would've ended in disaster."

"I'm glad we didn't,"
He said, sitting down beside me on the bed.
"I'm proud of you."

"Praise yourself,"
I said, looking into his eyes
"I'm more impressed with the restraint you had."

Zero stared into my eyes, I could hear his heart rate increase.
"(Y/n)"
He said quietly before slowly bringing his face closer to mine.

Time felt slower as our lips were inches away, right before they could touch a sudden knock at the door made him pull away and walk over to the sound.

He opened the door and started to speak with someone.

"What do you want?"
Zero asked, slightly frustrated.

"The headmaster has asked that you and (Y/n) help with setting up the hall."
A male voice spoke on the other side of the door.

"Fine."
Zero said with a sigh before closing the door.

"Our speeches were for nothing."
Zero said, leaning against the doorframe.

I stood up off his bed and walked over to him.
"It's our job. Let's just babysit the humans."
I said.

He opened the door and signaled for me to go first. I turned to face him, looking into his eyes. I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before walking out.

Everyone was setting up for the 'party' in the hall so Zero and I sat by and made sure everything went smoothly.

"This is unfair."
Zero said with a sigh

"I know,"
I said, touching his arm
"This will be over soon."

"You hope so-"
Zero cut himself off by something.

"What's wrong?"
I asked, looking around

"It's probably nothing."
He said, returning to a relaxed state.

Everything was set up, and music was quietly playing. I sat down on the floor leaning against a pillar, when suddenly a "boo" came from behind me making me jump up and grab the person by the throat with a other hand held straight against their stomach.

"Relax,"
Yuki said, pushing my hand down. I released my grip on her neck and straightened my clothes.
"Are you ready to party tonight?"

"Yeah,"
I said lightly in thought
"I'm assuming the night class is coming?"

"We're already here,"
She said, glancing behind me. I followed her gaze to Hanabusa being surrounded and the others hanging around.
"Kaname's on the balcony. It seems like he wants to speak with you."

"I have nothing to say to him."

"It won't hurt to hear him out."

"It will,"
I said with a sigh
"Fine, keep Zero entertained while I'm gone."

She nodded and went over to Zero, who was leaning against a pillar with his arms crossed. I made my way through the crowd and to the balcony. Kaname stood there staring off into the distance.

"Didn't bring your side hoe?"
I asked, making him turn around

"(Y/n),"
Kaname said
"I'm glad you came."

"That makes only one of us"
I said

"How are you?"

"Pretty shitty, thanks for asking."

"I meant your bloodlust."

"It's fine, I almost massacred an entire classroom of humans bit that became an average Tuesday."

"I see."
Kaname said, glancing behind us

"Eavesdropping is considered rude,"
He said, turning to someone
"We're you aware of that?"

"Umm, yes!"
A girl's voice said, shocked.
"I'm sorry."

"Why were you listening in on our conversation?"
I asked, stepping forward before being blocked by Kaname's arm.

"I know what you are, (Y/n)"
The girl from the bathroom and class said
"You may be fooling everyone else, but not me."

"What are you talking about?"
I asked sternly, moving Kaname's hand out of the way

"Bloodlust, Massacre, vampires..."
She said, finally making eye contact with me.
"And I'll prove it,"

She took a pocket knife out and held it to her arm. Kaname looked at me before grabbing the girl before she could hurt herself.

She dodged him, he quickly realized and shut the balcony door, leaving me and her alone.

The smell of blood became stronger as she threw the knife to the floor.

"Reveal your true self!"
She yelled, walking closer to me.

"Calm down,"
I said, ripping a piece of my skirt and attempting to cover her wound.

"Don't pretend to be something you're not."
She said
"You were born to-"

"You don't know shit about my life."
I said sternly, cutting her off
"Let me stop the bleed-"

My heart rate started to increase, and the veins on her entire body became visible.
I closed my eyes and covered my nose as I took a step back.

"See, you can't help it."
She said, pushing her arm closer to my face.

"Stop it,"
I said desperately
"I don't want to hurt you."

"Of course you do, that's what vampires do. They kill us. "

In a second, my teeth latched onto her neck. She tried to scream, but my hand covered her mouth.
I drank so much of her blood... I thought she was going to die in my arms.

When I realized what I had done, I pulled away. She was pale. Her heart's still beating. If she survives.
