ALEKSANDER

"What do you mean I have to go?" Jessica is following me around the apartment as I gather her belongings.

She has been here less than 24 hours but every corner of the apartment is covered with her things and though I know she won't believe me, it's breaking my heart to be doing this.

"Honey, just trust me okay?" She can't be here for what is about to happen.

The tornado that is about to blow will reach even my parents in Italy and I don't want Jessica anywhere near all of us when it happens.

"Trust you? Alek, your ex fiancée just showed up with a baby and instead of explaining or even talking to me. You are kicking me out with no explanation. What the hell—"

"Jessica!" I yell the interjection.

I have never yelled at her before because my anger can be poisonous but now is not the time for her fiery temper and dramatics, her turn will come.

"Please, just trust me okay?" I repeat like it's a song. "My assistant Blake is already on her way here, we have arranged everything for you and with time I promise to explain but for now just give me more—"

"Space?" Jessica fills in. "Do you mean you just need more space? Is that it Alek." Her voice cracks and it shoots straight to my heart. "Well that's easy honey, you live here and I live in Oakwood remember! There is a ton of space between us," she grabs her shoe and storms off.

"Jessica—" I follow her to the bedroom because I really didn't mean it like that.

"Just tell me," she turns around once we pass the doorway. "Is Anna your child? Is that what it is? You don't think I can take it?"

I should be surprised but Jessica is an intelligent woman so I expected her to have connected the dots since the years do add up.

"There is a possibility, yes" I don't want to lie to her.

I would say more but she'll take me at my word and I can't take the risk, I can't even see straight my mind is spinning so hard.

"Oh," her face falls as she turns away but I wrap my arms around her to stop them from trembling.

"Please just trust me," I know this is horrible timing but I still need her.

Things were finally falling to into place with Jessica. We made love, amazing unbinding love that proved everything I was feeling prior to her coming here but now April is back and with a baby.

We need to tread carefully or we'll be short lived which is something I can't let happen.

"Trust you?" She scoffs and tries to push me away. "Let go Alek!" Jessica yells in an Irish accent.

"Please, I just want—" us to be okay.

"No!" She sets herself free. "Screw whatever rational bullshit you want to say because let's recap shall we?"

She puts more space between us when she faces me.

"Friday, I got on a plane to find a fucking file about my life in your office!" The vein on her forehead pops. "You know stuff about me and my mom that no one ever told me. For fucksake you even have her death certificate, my sealed high school records and my freaking bra size Aleksander!"

What can I say, Gary is into...details?

"And then we had this beautiful night of passion so I thought, maybe you're right. Maybe there is an explanation and maybe I was over reacting."

She really was, I still can't believe she kicked and slapped me.

"Then Saturday came and we bumped into your EX FIANCEE!" Jessica claps like she's swatting a mosquito. "Who you conveniently forgot to mention was a whole doctor with an innocent BABY. A BABY ALEK!"
