~(JADE's POV) I paced back and forth, trying to decide when to call her and what I was going to say if I saw her. I sat down in my chair, my hands in my hair. After some deep breathing, I texted her:

"Hey, I hope you're ok! Sorry I was napping, talk to you tomorrow." A small weight was lifted off my shoulders and I continued to write my essay. I finished quickly, having cleared my mind. I printed and stapled the papers when I heard a jiggle of the doorknob. I ran and looked through the peephole, only to see my mom struggling to find her keys. I laughed and opened the door.

"Thanks Hun, I couldn't find my keys," said my mom.

"No problem, how was work?" I asked.

"It was alright, I'm just dead tired. I'm going to call it a night. See ya tomorrow, Jade," she called as she walked up the stairs. I closed and locked the door and went to bed too, calling it in for the night.

The next morning I prepared myself for what possibly could be coming: tears, screams, name calling, pushes, punches, hugs, etc. I said goodbye to Mom and walked to my car, listening to The Killers. When I eventually pulled into the school parking lot a knot twisted and balled in my stomach. I walked on campus and towards first period, where I normally was at this time of day. I walked into class expecting to see Stephanie, but she wasn't there...someone else was.
