Castro, with the help of lawyer Manuel Urrutia Lleó (December 8, 1901 – 5 July 1981), took over Cuba. Lleó didn't agree with Castro, and left the Presidency. After he emigrated to America, Castro then took the reigns from 1959 onwards.

Castro saw off his so-called "In-house enemies". Now, as leader, he resumed his anti-American activities.

He then spread contacts with the Soviet Union. This forced US President John F(itzgerald) Kennedy to go to Berlin, Germany, to inform The Old Enemy under Hitler to force Castro underground. paved a truce for awhile...And, as Castro became more dictatorial, he would go back to America by 1962 knowing that the last chapter in the story was coming to a head in the form of "The Cuba Missile Crisis". The infamous "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech, in June, 1963, (five months before his assassination), was the last major act as US President before he died.
