It was fair to say that my parents- or everyone for that matter- were shocked about my engagement. They were all extremely happy but equally as surprised.

We announced it at an engagement party at our house after we'd furnished it all.

God it feels weird to say our house.

So heres what happened that day...

"Oh honey, the house is lovely. You and Jack did a great job decorating it all" My Mom cooed while Dad stood a few steps away with his lips pursed and eyebrows furrowed.

He wasn't happy about the fact I was leaving again after only a few days of being back from uni.

It was going to be slightly weird for me too. Not living under my parents roof, paying my own bills, taking care of Jack and I.

Its a huge responsibility, but I know we'll make it work.

Jack came and greeted my parents as well and my Dad instantly perked up a bit. He had taken a liking to Jack very early into our relationship.

I'm not sure if its because he's known Jack since he was little or just because he's easy to get along with. But either way, I'm happy.

Jack insisted we invite nearly everyone we know, including Todd, Jack's cousin who tried to hit on me while paintballing- although in the end it was me who hit him, twice.

So when everyone arrived, I started loading all the food I'd made onto plates and got my Mom, Beth, Isabel and Harriet to take it into he dining room. I'd made our own little buffet.

Lizzie tried to help but with Callum drinking with Jack, Danny and our other friends, it was unfair to let her look after Bradley and help serve.

After we'd all eaten our little finger foods, we all mingled and socialised.

Hannah was happy to play with Jack's cousins, although they were all a little more grown up though. But they still allowed her to play with them, despite the age difference.

Drew was now 14 and breaking hearts, Paige was 12 and was really smart. And then there's little Rachel. Still only 9 but you could tell she's going to be a stunner in the future.

I hope my kids grew up to be like that.

My kids? I'm not even pregnant and I'm thinking about my kids. Mine and Jack's kids.

After a little while, when I was doing a spot of tidying up, Jack sauntered into the kitchen with a boyish grin on his face.

"Hello beautiful fiancé"

"Hello handsome fiancé" I grinned, wrapping my arms around his neck, placing a kiss on his lips. But of course, he wouldn't let me pull away quite so quickly.

We stood there for what felt like hours, slowly kissing each other, our love pulsing through it.

Then we were suddenly interrupted.

"Eeeeeewwwww, Jack and Jess are making babies!" Paige cried out and everyone in the other room laughed. We pulled away laughing, but I felt a small blush creep up my face.

Jack chuckle and placed a kiss on my forehead. "Shall we go tell them now?" He asked and I nodded.

He took my hand and we walked into the living room where everyone was talking.

"Guys!" Jack called out and everyone stopped and looked at him. "Thank you for coming and helping us celebrate moving into our new home today. But there's something else we'd like to tell you all..."

"Oh my gosh, I'm going to be a Great Grandma! When are my Great Grandbabies due?" Jack's Grandma Aggie squealed.

I giggled and shook my head. "I'm not pregnant Aggie"

"Well hurry up before I die" she grumbled stubbornly.

It was amazing that she was even here today if I'm honest. She gave us quite a scare a couple if years back.

Just after I'd started my second year of university, she'd been taken ill and had to spend a couple of weeks in hospital. Turns out she had a mild stroke and was left with a numbness in her one arm, and now she can't use it. But it was better to have a numb arm than be dead.

So we savoured all the time we had with her.

"Anyway, Jess and I would like to announce that, we're engaged" He grinned at me. He bent down and gave me a small peck and I squeezed his hand in return.

"Oh my god! Congratulations you two!" Everyone said, or along those lines anyway.

I slipped my ring out of my pocket and Jack placed it on my finger. We didn't want to give the surprise away when everyone got here, did we?

Everyone cheered and congratulated us. Aggie jumped up from her chair- for a 90 year-old she was still good on her feet- and wrapped the two of us in a hug.

We decided to keep it a secret from our friends up until now as well.

So understandably Beth charged at me when everyone else had gone.

"Oh my gosh Jess, congratulations! I'm so happy for the two of you" she gave me a hug and then moved to Jack. "Although I'm a little annoyed that its taken you this long to tell me"

"I know I'm sorry, its been so hard not blurting it out over the past two months" I sighed but I couldn't seem to remove the grin from my face.

Eventually everyone made us tell the story of how he proposed.

They all booed Jack at the beginning of the story when I told them how he ditched me at my graduation party, but then when I finished half of the room was crying. Even Callum was crying!

After showing the rock around a few more times, people started to disperse due to the fact they had work the next day. But just before that, Danny shouted, "So whens the wedding?" And everyone laughed but my Dad paled.

He was sad to let me go. I was sad too.

At around 10pm, Jack and I went to our new bedroom and snuggled under the duvet. Me in my pyjama shorts and top and Jack in his boxers. We both lay side by side and watched a film.

Occasionally we talked about the wedding. The date. The venue. The guest list etc.

But then Jack asked me a question and he looked nervous. "Do you want kids? With me?"

"Of course I do Jack" I said after pecking his cheek. "You've known me long enough to know I want kids, and I definitely want them with you"

He smiled and nodded.

"How many?"

I laughed. "I don't know" I shrugged. "How many do you want?"

"Eight?"

I scoffed. "Please, you're not putting my body through all that"

He nodded. "Five?"

"No!"

"Three?"

"That is a number I can accept" I smiled and then he smiled. "But hey, leta not plan it. We may decide that after one, we may think thats enough"

He shook his head. "I'll never think that, I want as many as you'll give me" Jack grinned.

"Okay" I sighed and smiled. "Okay"
