30. Quick Gossip

Ushijima POV
(Early Afternoon - In Tokyo Stadium)

The next day after my confession to Amu, our team headed to Tokyo Stadium for the Interhigh Tournament to play against volleyball teams from all over the nation. I am somewhat disappointed that I left Amu right after I told her my feelings, but I will not let that bother me because when it comes to volleyball I will not let my emotions interfere with my gameplay.

"Sigh and right after exams too~ why does this tournament have to be so heartless~ I need a break," Tendou complains as we come into the gym.

"Well the Tokyo Prefecture just finished their inter high preliminaries so we are lucky that we got some kind of break compared to them," Ohira comments.

"Yoooshhh!!! I'm super pumped senpai!" Goshiki adds in with fire in his eyes seeing all these new players come in.

Even Shirabu was a bit excited about today since he didn't make a snarky comment back to Goshiki.

"We don't have many games today, but whatever games have we will win," I tell the team.

"Right," the team responds back.

"Wakatoshi-kun," a voice calls out to me.

I turn around to see the current top player in Japan, Sakusa, come over to greet me with a fellow friend of his tagging along.

I don't know Sakusa well, but his skills are proficient in volleyball for only being a second year. The only thing I don't understand is why he's constantly wearing a mask and gloves everywhere he goes.

"Are you playing today?" He asks.

"Of course," I nod my head. "I suspect that you have some games as well."

Sakusa nods his head. "I do." He answers and takes off his glove. He puts his hand out to offer me a handshake. "I hope we will play against each other in the finals," he says and I shake his hand.

"Same," I answer.

I watch him put his gloves back on after our handshake and I tilt my head.

"Why do you wear gloves and a mask?" I bluntly question. I notice it before, but seeing that it's not cold, it makes me wonder why he's wearing that and so many layers of clothing.

"He's hypochondriac or germaphobic depending on how you view it," his friend with strange unique eyebrows comments with a smile.

"Komori is right. I am. Everything is dirty, but you're an exception Wakatoshi-kun," Sakusa says putting his glove back on.

"Amazing~ a real life germaphobic," Goshiki gawks in shock.

"He says he's a hypochondriac, but he just shook hands with Ushijima and always plays volleyball.... That makes no sense...." Shirabu questions Sakusa's logic.

"Idiots keep your mouths shut," Semi goes in between those two and elbows them on the stomach.

"Oh! Surprise! Surprise! My two rivals are here together!" A booming voice calls out and I turn to see Kiryu come over with a smirk on his face.
