---------------------------------------------
"Why can't I stay with Poe?" You whined as your mother ushered you along.

"Because you have to go with children your own age, darling. Poe is in the older group."

You crossed your arms and let out a frustrated huff, "But I don't have any friends."

"You'll make plenty of friends, Y/N," but that didn't seem to reassure you, "But your brother will be close by if you need him."

At the age of three, you had been abandoned by your birth family. You were found shortly after by members of the Rebel Alliance, who brought you to their base on Yavin 4. Shara Bey and Kes Dameron soon took you into their home and raised you like their own. In three years, the Damerons had become your real family.

You grudgingly continued down the pathway, towards the building that had been set up for the children on the Rebel base.

"Oh look, here's a friend for you already," your mother smiled as you approached Leia and her son, "Y/N, you remember Ben, don't you?"

You looked at him and nodded slightly. You had a very vague recollection of the boy, though from your understanding he didn't stay with the other group of children on the Base.

"Well why don't you say hello then?"

"Hello," you mumbled shyly.

"Hi," he replied just as quietly. Your mothers exchanged amused looks.

"Y/N's mum is a very close friend of mine," Leia said to her son, "I'm sure you can be good friends too," she smiled at you both.  Leia ruffled Ben's hair, "Look after Y/N, okay?"

Ben nodded before the two women said their goodbyes to you. You two stood in silence for a few moments.

"So does this mean that we're friends now?" Ben finally spoke.

"I don't know," you shrugged, "Poe is my only friend and he's my brother."

"I don't have many friends either."

You seemed to lighten up at that, slightly relieved that you weren't the only one.

"Then we should be friends," you stated. Ben smiled and nodded in agreement.

Twelve Years Later

"Hit me harder this time," you said, straightening up.

"Y/N..."

You sighed, "Fine. Hit me harder this time, please."

Ben smirked, lunging towards you. You easily dodged him, but before you could turn back around to face him, he caught you by surprise and managed to hold you in his tight grip.

"Ouch Ben, you're pulling my hair!"

"Oh, sorry," Ben said before quickly stepping back from you.

You flashed a grin at him before leaping forwards and tackling him to the ground, "You fell for it again," you laughed as you stood up.

Ben rested his head on the ground and stared up at you, "That's cheating!"

You shrugged, "It's your own fault for believing me. In a real fight would you surrender if the other person told you that you were 'pulling their hair'?" You laughed.

"Well what if you really were in pain?"

"Shouldn't you be able to tell when I'm lying... Jedi?" You teased him, extending your hand out to help him up.

You yourself were Force sensitive. But you had denied Luke's invitation to develop your skills in fear of turning to the Dark. You didn't know of your birth family's history with the Force, and you felt in no position to tempt fate. Instead, you were quite content just helping Ben train.

Ben smirked as he took your hand, and almost as soon as you realised what he was doing, you were toppling right on to him. You gave him a mock frown and he chuckled in response, reaching up to kiss your forehead.

"Alright lovebirds, dinner will be ready in five," you heard Han's voice call out from the house.

Ben called out a response while you rested your chin against his chest, looking up at him. Ben looked back at you and smiled.

"What are you staring at?" You asked as Ben ran his hand through your hair.

"You," he smiled.

Since the day you were properly introduced by your mothers, you and Ben had been inseparable. As the years went on, your friendship blossomed into a fierce and strong love. Leia had once told you that she thought you shared a sort of Force bond. But you didn't mind what it was called; all you knew was that you were happy.

Lately, you hadn't seen Ben nearly as often as you would have liked, with him spending most of his time training at the Temple with his uncle. But on the rare days you did have with him, he would be devoted to you and you to him.

"You're beautiful, you know that?"

You smiled, sitting up from Ben's chest, "Hmm, you would think after telling me a thousand times a day, I would know that by now."

"Well I mean it, even after the thousandth time."

You lied down beside him and turned towards him, "You're beautiful too."

"Y/N you can't call me beautiful.

"Why not?" You laughed, "It's true."

Ben laughed too, "Well thank you then, sweetheart."

"Welcome, sweetheart," you sang as you kissed his nose quickly.

Before you could move your head back, Ben placed his hands on either side of cheeks, "What did do to deserve you?"

"Let's be honest, Ben, I only stick around for your Mum's cooking," you teased.

He frowned as you giggled, "Honestly, you make me feel whole Ben. I wouldn't give that up for anything in the galaxy," you confessed as you reached down to kiss him.

When you parted, Ben laughed, "We better go inside. If I don't bring you home before it gets dark, Poe will say I'm corrupting you again."
