Chapter 18: The Break Up Redux

Cameron's P.O.V:

So I guess I've literally slept all day. It's almost 11pm. I wanna talk to Shawn. I grab my phone and text him.

Cam: "hey baby😘"
It says read at the bottom of my screen. However, no texts come through. Did he just read it and ignore me?

Cam: "is something wrong Shawn?"
It says read at the bottom of my screen again. What the hell? Why is he so mad at me?

Cam: "I'm sorry if I made you mad, but Shawn I believe you."
This time he texts back.

Shawn: "You believe me? Then why the hell would you break up with me? Please leave me alone."

Cam: "Shawn I never broke up with you!! Why would you think I did?
It takes him a minute or two to respond.

Shawn: "You said we were breaking up."
I think back to when I called him.

Cam: "No baby, I meant the call was breaking up, not us." He must be so heartbroken. He types for a few minutes.

Shawn: "Well I'm sorry I thought we were broke up."

Cam: "Do you want me to come over?"

Shawn: "Right now probably wouldn't be the best time. I invited Josh over and I thought we were broke up. We did some things......"
Was he seriously with Josh?

Cam: "I'm coming over there right now and I swear to God if he's there, we're done."

Shawn: "I guess we're done then."
How dare he! I felt tears welling up in my eyes.

Cam: "Why are you being like this Shawn? This isn't like you."
Tears were streaming down my eyes.

Shawn: "I'd say sorry Cam, but I'd be lying. I'll see you around. And stop texting me. Seriously, it's pathetic."
I threw my phone at the wall. How could he do this to me? I loved him. I still do love him.

Josh's P.O.V:

I heard a buzz. I sit up on the couch and grab my phone. No notification. I look over to the bar and see a phone lit up. It must me Shawn's. I walk over and pick it up. It was a text from Cameron. How dare he be texting Shawn when he just broke up with him.

Cam: "hey baby😘"
I should just ignore it. He doesn't deserve Shawn. I do.

Cam: "is something wrong Shawn?"
I ignore it again. Another message comes through.

Cam: "I'm sorry if I made you mad, but Shawn I believe you."

I couldn't take it anymore. I have to text back. Good thing he doesn't have a password.

Josh Pretending To Be Shawn: "You believe me? Then why the hell would you break up with me? Please leave me alone."

Cam: "Shawn I never broke up with you!! Why would you think I did?

I heard him say they were breaking up. I heard it with my own ears. Why is he lying?

Josh Pretending To Be Shawn: "You said we were breaking up."
A few minutes pass.

Cam: "No baby, I meant the call was breaking up, not us."
Oh my God. Cameron didn't break up with Shawn? What should I do? Shawn doesn't need Cameron in his life. Cameron is bad. I am good. Shawn needs me. I can make him love me.

Josh Pretending To Be Shawn: "Well I'm sorry I thought we were broke up."

Cam: "Do you want me to come over?"

I panic for a moment. Let's end this once and for all.

Josh Pretending To Be Shawn: "Right now probably wouldn't be the best time. I invited Josh over and I thought we were broke up. We did some things......"

Cam: "I'm coming over there right now and I swear to God if he's there, we're done."

Yes! I had made him mad.

Josh Pretending To Be Shawn: "I guess we're done then."

Cam: "Why are you being like this Shawn? This isn't like you."

Sorry Cam. I'm just doing what's best for me and Shawn.

Josh Pretending To Be Shawn: "I'd say sorry Cam, but I'd be lying. I'll see you around. And stop texting me. Seriously, it's pathetic."

Cam doesn't text back. My heart is racing. Should I tell Shawn what happened? He already thinks they're broke up so it would only hurt him more to show him these messages. Plus he might be mad at me. I hold the messages down and delete them from his phone. I put it back down on the counter and crawl back onto his couch. Shawn was now going to be all mine.
