Chapter Thirty Six

Selene woke up to the sun in her eyes. Yet another day of looking like a house, Selene thought to herself. She was now nine months, and looking like it. The baby was due any day now, and Selene couldn't wait. Her wanting of this baby grew more and more, with each passing day.

When she saw the Rampion Crew with their kids, she couldn't help but be jealous. They all ran around, laughing and talking in that kid language that no one understood. It was always so special to see all of them, and how much they grew, like Maha, who was already a year old. She was talking in full sentences, and picking up words from her mom.(which I cannot mention in this book) And then getting scolded.

Leo was the silent child, who shared a secret language with Solstice, who was also rather silent. What's was funny, all of the kids shared aspects of their parents. Like Leo, who was bound to have his mom's blonde hair and blue eyes. Or Maha, who had her dad's green eyes, and mom's red hair. Solstice had Winter's black hair, while having Jacin's paler skin, which was a very pretty combination.

Selene was just worried that her son or daughter, would have her messy hair, or her weird figure. Or the same stuttering in his or her voice when speaking, or the fiddling with anything and everything. Selene didn't mind her easily tanned skin, or her brown eyes, she was just afraid the worst of Selene would come out in her daughter or son.

Kai, of course, didn't have many flaws, beside the in proportional arms, which would disappear as the child got older. Selene, of course, wasn't worried much about her child's looks, per say. She was more worried about how her child would turn out.

Even though the nightmares stopped when she stopped working, Selene still couldn't help but be drawn to the fact that her child would one day rule the Commonwealth, following in his or her parent's footsteps. Which, meant learning about the Revolution, and what happened to the hidden half of the family. Hopefully, no questions will be asked about who Selene's parents were, and how she and daddy met.

Selene still thought about that special day, when Kai and Selene met at the market. That day would be a day, that would forever be in Selene's memory.

Another day that would be in Selene's memory forever, was the day that she realized how much Kai meant to her. For his most recent birthday, Selene got him a plague that had a poem she wrote on it. Here is what it said.

To my loving husband, Emperor Kaito

I love you to the moon and back,
because you complete me, just so well.
I know your not sappy, and neither am I,
So I'll just say, your the apple of my eye.

I wrote this just for you. Hope you enjoy!
                           -Your loving wife, Empress Selene

Selene never really was a poet, but she thought it was something he deserved. He was so special to her, and he deserved to know it.

Kai was staring at the plague when Selene came downstairs. She was quite tired from the tossing and turning she was doing last night.

He greeted her with the same questions and comments, and then he went to get ready. The whole Rampion crew was going to the UK, where Queen Camilla was hosting a gala, for revolution heroes, who lived around the world, including the Rampion crew.

No one was brining their little ones, for this was a night about the revolution, and nothing else. Cress kept on saying in comms, that she was nervous about leaving Leo with the babysitter. Selene then made the comment that it was better then having Thorne watch Leo, and that made Cress feel better.

It amazed Selene, that every conversation between crew members, with or without Thorne, ended up teasing him, which, was what everyone enjoyed. And, he never got upset about it, because in his heart, he knew half of it was true.

Selene and Kai headed to the podship deck, where an engine sound caught their attention. Kai looked up with Selene, as the Rampion approached. There, the ramp was lowered, and the captain and his wife appeared at the threshold.

They both bowed, as Selene and Kai entered the Rampion arm in arm. A lock of hair fell out of Selene's bun, as she exited the chaos of life in the palace, and the serenity of the ship, formerly known as her home.

Soon, they were greeted by friends and family, who were crowded in the crew quarters. Her dad and sister gave up the couch. Selene thanked them, and hobbled over to the couch. She was careful not to step on someone and trip, because no one wants a house landing on them.

Thankfully, she stepped on no one, and she made it to the couch okay. Kai laughed as she kicked off the shoes she had on, to rest her feet. "Ugh. Whoever thought of giving a nine month pregnant lady heels, was an idiot," Selene said, stepping into much more comfortable shoes, known as boots. Konn Torin shot her a look, but dismissed it from the look Kai gave him.

After conversing for a while, Thorne left to land the Rampion. Kai held Selene close, as the ship took a shaky landing. Kai got up, but Selene grabbed his hand, telling him that it was okay. Kai obeyed, and talked to Wolf about France's political status, compared to the other Union countries.

After landing, the crew was led into the giant palace, and greeted by Queen Camilla, and Princess Victoria. Selene managed the best bow she could under the circumstances, while Kai presented a perfectly graceful one.

Selene was in awe of the Palace's beauty. The pristine marble floors, and cotton white walls caught her attention the most.

Each of the crew members were given a room to sleep in, and they each gratefully accepted. Thornes were given the room closest to the exit, while Clays had the room after that. Finally, it was Kinney and Iko (who are now dating) Kesleys and Kaitos.

When Selene and Kai were ready, they headed to the top of the stairs, where the other crew members were waiting. One by one, each of the crew members were announced, and each went down, arm in arm, with their better half. They filled in at the large table, leaving space for Kai and Selene, at the left and right of the queen.

Finally, after what seemed hours, Kai and Selene headed to the dining table, and gratefully ate at the food that was set in front of them.

During the dinner, Selene got a notification from her head.

Labor starting. Please get to the nearest hospital.

Selene willed the message to go away, as the cramping in her stomach started. She waited for the pain to subside, and gradually, it did. It was there and then, that Selene made her decision. She was going to wait as long as she could, so no one would worry about her. She would sneak Kai away somewhere, and she would tell him, and they would go home.

Just as Selene was going to pull him away, the music started. The queen, then leaned over, and asked Kai a question. He nodded, and took Selene's arm. She obeyed, and followed him to the dance floor. "Ladies and gentlemen. Please divert your attention to the dance floor, where the first dance of the evening will be shared by the Empress and Emperor of the Eastern Commonwealth," the queen announced.

As the music started, Kai had trouble finding a comfortable way to dance. He found it, and they started dancing like they did on their wedding night. The song was

and Selene thought it was the perfect song.

When it ended, the pain in her lower stomach was excruciating. She collapsed to the ground in tearless sobs, clutching her stomach. When she looked up, Kai's eyes were filled with worry. He helped her stand up.

He didn't need to be told what was happening. He knew Selene was in labor. He just hoped to the stars she would be ok.
