"I couldn't do it."

Jack looked up from his untouched salad he'd been poking at with a fork. "What?"

Mark sighed, sitting down beside him and putting his head in his crossed arms, "I didn't have the balls to do it."

"Then what did you say?"

"When I sat down, she looked confused but it turned to a happy smile after that. I talked to everyone at that table, to look, ya know, not desperate and crap. But then Katherine asked about her boyfriend and she turned into the happiest little bubble of joy I've ever seen."

Jack frowned, pitying him as well as mentally cheering he wasn't losing him to another person. He shoved his plastic bowl away and picked up his milk, "Sorry to hear that, dude..."

Mark perked up, grinning a toothy grin. "Meh. There's plenty of other people out there. I'm sure I'll find interest in someone."

Jack nodded. "Yeah. Someone."
