THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY came and I saw it with a grateful smile. I bid goodbye to Danny, Lydia and Jackson as I walked out of the building and headed across the parking lot to my car, stopping on the pavement when I saw Scott and Stiles stood by the old Jeep I parked up next to this morning. I reached for the car keys in my bag and smiled at the two, "Hey."

"Hey, Alex." Stiles said, turning away from Scott while scratching the back of his neck, "What- what are you doing here?"

"This is my car." I told them, pointing to my car parked next to them, "Hey I'm sorry we didn't get chance to catch up before Lacrosse practice."

"Don't worry about it." Scott waved me off with a toothy grin.

"I was thinking we could catch up tonight?" I suggested, leaning on the hood of my car and looking to my two friends.

"Tonight, uh-we-we're kind of busy tonight." Stiles stuttered, looking to Scott who widened his eyes.

"No we're not." Scott replied as he looked at Stiles. My paler friend's eyes widened and Scott turned back to me, "We were just about to go looking for my inhaler, if you wanna come?"

"Dude—" Stiles intervened but Scott slapped him in the stomach causing him to splutter.

"Yeah." I nodded, eyeing Stiles carefully as he acted weird, "Uh, but I'll need to drop my car off home."

"Yeah, we'll follow you. Right Stiles?"

Stiles put his thumb up in response, "We've got a lot to talk about apparently."

"Okay, well, let's go." I said hopping into my car. I dropped my bag on the passenger seat and started the car, pulling out of the parking space, Scott and Stiles following after me in the Jeep.

It only took five or so minutes to get back to mine and I quickly ran inside to change my shoes and drop my bag off before running out to Stiles jeep. Scott got out the front seat to allow me to climb through to get to the back and I sat down in the middle seat as Stiles pulled away.

"So McCall, I never knew you were good at lacrosse." I said to my friend as I looked at him. Scott had always struggled with athletics and sports when we were younger because of his asthma. One look at him today however and I was guessing he'd managed to build up on his endurance or something.

"Neither did I." Scott replied to me with a grin, turning back in his seat.

"What?" I asked with a confused laugh.

"Scott and I have never made it past the bench." Stiles told me, his eyes focused on the road, "And today it's like Scott woke up with a new found skill in lacrosse."

"What, can't you guys play?" I asked them both.

"Not really." Scott said to me, "Did you see that ball hit me in the face?"

"Yeah but I also saw the way you caught every other ball." I told him, "So what changed.. and where the hell are we going?" I asked, looking around as the houses started to disperse. We were heading to the outskirts of town, dense trees packing the sides of the road instead of houses.

"Preserve." They both replied.

"Why are we going to the preserve?" I asked skeptically, arching my brow.
