I WAS IN A STATE OF SHOCK. I couldn't even fathom what was going on. I was breathing rapidly, too quickly for the air to even reach my diaphragm due to the panic I was subjected to. My hands where shaking so much, sweaty at the palm, and I didn't know where to put them. I was crashing under the notion of everything was going wrong — we were going to die.

It was the type of panic where the world was ending.

While Stiles and Scott kept their backs pressed against the doors anxiously I stood a few feet opposite them, bent at the knees and trying to stay on my feet. My hands covered my mouth in horror. I couldn't believe this was happening to us, the one thing I didn't want to happen. We'd drawn the Alpha here, we'd basically set ourselves up in a trap — strung ourselves up as bait — and now we were going to die.

We'd made the Alpha's job ten times easier by doing this.

I knew Scott's plan was a stupid plan, I just didn't think it'd backfire so quickly. I thought it would take a little longer for the Alpha to get here and by that time Scott and Derek would be ready and Stiles and I would be gone. That just wasn't what fate had planned for us though, because here we were.

"Lock it! Lock it!" Scott yelled to Stiles in a panic, his eyes wide.

"Do I look like I have a key?!" He fired.

"Just grab something!" I cried, "Anything, Stiles."

My friend froze for a minute and then he stood up to look out of the small rectangular window in the door. He stood there for a minute and Scott too stood up, wanting to see what he was looking at. I watched the two silently, forming fists in both hands and digging my nails into the palms to try and keep my handle on reality. I would no doubt have small moon-shaped markings etched into my skin from the pressure.

And then Scott spoke, "No."

"Yes." Stiles replied adamantly, grabbing the shoulder of Scott's jacket as he held the big flash light in his hand.

"Stiles, no, don't!" Scott warned him.

I watched him open the door without another word and step outside. My eyes widened in a mixture of panic and horror as I dashed forwards, "Stiles, what are you doing?" I cried out to him, fresh tears of fear running down my cheeks, "Stiles!"

I tried to open the door after him but Scott caught my wrist. He held it tightly but not in a painful way and I knew it was his way of stopping me from going outside in pursuit of Stiles.

I didn't even know what he was going out for. What had been so important for him to run out there and risk his life knowing the Alpha was lurking in the shadows?

I pressed my face against the window in the door and watched with baited breath, desperate to walk out there and drag Stiles back in so I know he'd be safe. I was terrified right now. I don't think I could handle him not coming back after what I'd just seen happen to Derek.

I kept my eyes glued on Stiles' back, watching him and his every move. He stepped forwards from the doors and made a dash down the steps, over to what he was out there for in the first place. I noticed the bright yellow bolt cutters lying on the ground that he'd used to cut the chain just ten minutes ago. He was going to use them to hold the doors in place to prevent the Alpha getting in.

It was a good idea but it definitely wasn't worth risking his life.

I focused on Stiles intently as he bent down to retrieve the tool, afraid that if I looked away he'd disappear.

"Oh.. no." Scott said suddenly and the panicked tone of his voice caused the hairs on the back of my neck to raise.

I looked over at him quickly, "Scott—"
