~Marissa~

I wake up with the sun in my eyes. I had just spent the night in the palace. I stretch and yawn before plopping my hands down on the big comforter.

It was a light blue. The walls were a light grey with blue accents. I wrote down on my ballot that I played piano which was true, so there was a baby grand piano in here. It's dark brown glossy wood shined when the sun hit it. The room was incredible. It was nearly twice the size of my room in Carolina, plus my closet was triple mine, and I had a private bathroom all to myself. No more sharing a bathroom with a brother until I move back home.

Lucas. I missed him so much. I start to remember what happened last night. I had drawn the attention of Prince Nathan to my room where he comforted me. It was nice to know someone here had the same experiences with a twin brother. Even if it was the prince.

My three maids come into my room. Luna, Jordyn, and Everly. Only this time they had someone new with them. She was older, but wore the same outfit. She gasped when she saw me. "My. If I didn't know any better I would thought I had traveled to the past. My dear you look exactly like your mother," she said.

"Um, thank you?" I ask confused what to say.

"I am Anne. I was your mother's maid when she was in the Selection. When these girls here said you looked just like her, well I had to see for myself. I'm also going to help you get ready for today. We are training Jordyn, and I'm here to oversee all that she has learned these few months. Now let's get you ready."

I kicked back the covers of my bed, and climbed out. My maids helped me out of my night gown and into a dress. It was a deep purple, and only went past my knees. It had a matching purple bow tied around the middle.

Luna began on my hair. She pulled it into an elegant ballet bun, with a few accent braids in the bun. Jordyn began on my makeup. I hadn't had much makeup to use in the past, so I never really knew how to do makeup myself.

I had also told my maids I had no experience walking in heels, so they right away said that I was going to have to learn. But for now I wore purple flats that matched my dress.

They had me stand up and twirl. The dress fanned out as I spun making me feel like a cupcake. I stop and look at myself in the mirror. I looked stunning. I didn't even see the girl that grew up in Carolina. I was a new person, and this was my new start.

My maids each hugged me and wished me luck. They shoved me out the door whereI found nearly all of the other girls standing. They all had dresses of different sizes on. Some long and flowy. Some small and tight to show everything, and then some like mine that was a little bit of everything.

"I'd never seen more girls head over heals for a guy," a voice says behind me. I twist to see a girl about my height. I didn't recognize her. She has bright blond hair, and bright blue eyes. Her skin is fair, with a little hint of a true tan. "I'm Liliana. I'm from Tammins."

"I'm Marissa," I say to be nice back.

"Marissa. You're pretty much a legend here. Everyone knows who your mom is. I've already heard some nasty things."

"Oh?"

"Yeah. I'd stay clear of the high caste girls. Claire and Ella over there have already made a pact. They were on my plane here. Claire is a two, but Ella is a three. She basically follows Claire around. Arianna and Anna met here. They were in the stations next to me, they've made a pact. The castes lower than you couldn't care less about you, but the twos and threes have other plans."

"I know it'll get annoying, but for now I'm not going to worry about it."

Another girl walks up to us. "I saw you two spark up a conversation, and since no one was willing to talk to me, I thought I'd try my luck with you two. I'm Charlotte," she says.

She has light brown hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin. She had dozens of freckles that coated her nose and forehead. Her hair was down and full of natural curl. It isn't quite as curly as mine, but it's pretty close. She was about an inch shorter than me, and I saw she was also wearing heels. Her tone was peppy, but not over the top. While Liliana's was cool and collected.

I smile, and so does Liliana. "I'm Liliana, and you probably know who this is," Liliana says gesturing to me.

"Of course I know who this is. You're Marissa. You're practically a legend. But don't worry, all of the girls that want you gone are just jealous of you."

"So I keep hearing," I say.

We stand in an awkward silence as we wait for the last of the girls to get here. Then an older woman comes and quiets us.

"Hello everyone! My name is Silvia. I will be your manners instructor, and teacher since you were all pulled out of school. Now if you will please follow me, we will begin our first lesson," the woman says.

We all follow her down the hall, down the stairs, past the dinning hall, and into a room not far past it. In the room there were small tables lined up in neat rows. "Please everyone find a seat and sit quietly," Silvia says.

So Charlotte, Liliana, and I find a table and sit. Another two girls sit at the other table on the other side of Charlotte. They look over at me and giggle.

"Ladies will you please remain quiet," Silvia says giving a hard stare to the two girls laughing at me. They stiffen, and face Siliva. She was beginning to scare me now. "Now we will begin your first lesson before you dine with the royal family today at breakfast."
