Aaaaand I'm back!

Killing AU! Enjoy, requests open. This is kind of all the human Monokubs x reader, but mostly Monotaro.

Y/N's POV

Sitting outside alone has to be one of the greatest feelings of all time, so calm, so peaceful. That is, unless you've been locked outside your room during a killing game.
"Kokichi Oma, you better let me in right this second or I swear—"
"Nishishi~ have fun outside! Alone! In the dark! During a killing game!"
Kokichi, being the sneaky asshole that he was, locked me out of my room and locked himself inside.
Groaning as I heard the nighttime announcement play through the walls, I started banging my head against the door. That quickly evolved into yelling, which was in vain since the rooms were soundproof, until...
"Y/N! Per the school rules, you have to be in your dorms by ten o'clock at night sharp." A voice huffed. I looked down to see the short redheaded boy known as Monotaro with his hands on his hips, glaring up at me. When I didn't respond, he snapped, "Well? Get in your dorm!"
I gave him a long, hard, silent look and simply tugged on the door handle. "Locked."
His eyes flashed with embarrassment for a split second before he crossed his arms, turning his head away from me and scoffing. "How was I supposed to know?"
"Sorry, I'm... just agitated." I confessed.
"Agitated? Tired, you mean. Come on." He grabbed my wrist and started marching towards the dormitory exit. "Let's take you to the Monokubs hangout so you don't get killed."
"W-Wait a second!" I tugged my arm trying to slow him down. "Isn't it against the rules to intervene with the game? Also, how do I know you won't hold me as hostage or kill me or..." I felt my breathing grow shallow.
He smirked knowingly, cockily, before replying with a shrug of his shoulders. "The rules say that Monokuma can't intervene, not us Monokubs. Also, what fun would it be if I killed you?"
I couldn'y argue with his logic, but I was still apprehensive. That didn't stop Monotaro from dragging me towards the main school building. Under the stairs, he unlocked a door and lead me through. It was dark, dank... shady, to say the least. I felt myself tremble. Monotaro gave me a look, a caring look, before snapping his eyes back into the darkness.
"Just saying, don't mention this to anyone."
"Or you'll what?"
I realised just how stupid my daring question was when he started to chuckle. I loved his laugh.
"Or I'll kill you. And, like I said before, that wouldn't be any fun."
Suddenly, the lights flicked on.
It looked just like the room that the Monokubs sat in in all of the announcements. Yellow wallpaper, yellow couch, lots and lots of dolls hanging from strings.
I touched Saihara's doll with my fingertips before a tanned hand batted it away.
"What are youse bastards doin' so late at night? What did you do Monotaro?"
I recognised the voice rather quickly.
"Monosuke?" I said, fear evident in my voice. I looked down as the dirty-blonde haired boy rolled his eyes, taking off his glasses to clean them.
"The one and only. Now, if I could politely ask you to hold still while I gut you alive—" he slipped his glasses back onto the bridge of his nose before pulling out a set of three knifes, each ne poking out from between his fingers.
"What? What?! Monosuke, no!" Montaro scrambled to take the knives away, only for his slightly taller brother to swipe his hands above his head.
"What-is-going-on." A robotic voice asked.
"Monodam, just ignore them and go back to sleep." A softer voice responded, her words still slurred from sleep.
"AW HELL NO! GUYS, ONE OF THOSE BASTARD PARTICIPANTS ARE IN HERE!"
Instantly, I started to panic, but Monotaro kept his cool and gave them a toothy, slightly crooked grin.
"This is Y/N. She was locked out of her dorm so I brought her here."
"Hmm... a hostage could spice the game up." Monosuke hummed to himself, circling me like a hawk around his kill. His knives were still glinting the the throbbing light of the run-down hideaway.
Out of the darkness, the three other kubs emerged. One had green hair and looked a little something like Kiibo- the head of a human and the body of a robot. He had chunky glasses and an emotionless expression.
The second kub had pink hair in twin drills, shining eyes and a toothy smirk. She was a little taller than the average Monokub.
The last one had blue hair with black and white streaks in it, pale skin and piercing black eyes. He wasn't smiling; he was laughing. Laughing at my nerves, most likely.
"So, youse thought it'd be best to let this participant in 'ere?" Monosuke laughed loudly.
Monophanie, or so she was called on the announcements, piped up with her soft voice. "You'll grow to love her! Besides, what fun would killing the vulnerable be?"
"You're-right." Monodam nodded, his voice still as monotone as ever. Wouldn't Monotone be a better name for him?
"You're... all surprisingly kind."
"D-Don't get the wrong idea!" Monotaro snapped, huffed and turning away from me. "It's not because we like you or anything. Come on, guys, let's leave her to rest. We can decide what to do next in the morning."
"Dumbass..." Monosuke huffed, practically dragging his siblings back into the dark cave-like room they'd come from.
Monotaro, however, stayed. He ushered me to sit on the mustard couch, which I did without question. Despite the fact that he'd probably saved my skin from Monosuke, I still didn't have the guts to trust him.
The couch was surprisingly comfortable to sit on, even though the hanging dolls around me clashed with such a relaxing situation. I sat tensely, though tired, and tried really hard to stay awake. No, I was not falling asleep in front of a potential killer, nor a potential crush.
Oh God damn it, I was already head over heels for him.

Monotaro's POV

Y/N... was the most interesting character in the killing game. She kept to herself and yet hadn't been killed. I wanted to be the one to break down the wall she'd built up so high - far higher than necessary. Nothing gets me more excited than a challenge.
I noticed her hesitance to fall asleep very quickly, my cherry-red eyes pricked into the darkness. Yes, I'd turned the light off in hopes that would lull her into sleep faster, but her shaky breathing was a clear enough signal that she was still stressed out of her mind.
"Hey, Y/N, you know you're safe here, right? I wouldn't let anyone hurt you." Couldn't would be a more appropriate term. "You're safer here than out there."
"M-Monotaro... I'm scared you'll snap and kill me. I also just feel awkward sleeping here. Near you. Sorry, i-it's really immature, but—"
"No no no, it's fine!"
"Ha ha."
Frowning the the thick darkness, I replied to her laughter with a huff, and a quick, "What are you laughing at?"
"Y-Your great personality. It changes so quick. It's... actually really cute— COOL. COOL. I SAID COOL."
"Get a room!" Monokid yelled from what I was assuming was the sleeping quarters for the kubs.
"Shut up or so help me God!" I snapped, and I felt Y/N flinch beside me. Wait, we were that close?
I flicked on the light and watched it throb to life, before shuffling even closer to the participant. She was bright red, redder than my hair almost, which flooded me with a newfound confidence. It surged through my veins, and caused me to kiss Y/N.
I was kissing her.
She squeaked but didn't pull away. I don't think it was out of fear - just out of enjoyment. She was almost smiling.
That is until...
"Dearest kubs! I heard that Monotaro decided to bring a participant into the kubs den?" Panic set in. Father. "Well, that just won't do, no no no...! Activate summoning magic! Save me, gungnir spears!"
I closed my eyes, scrambling away.
I wish I didn't open my eyes.
Y/N, impaled, bleeding out.
"Well, at least I died knowing your loved me, Monotaro."
Within seconds, she was dead.

Word count - 1411.

Okay, so I feel mean leaving it on an angsty ending. Should I do a Human!Monokubs x reader, with five different endings for each kub? Maybe a Human! Monokuma x reader? Lemme know if you'd want to see that.
