Fic title: The Death of a Pianist.

Kaede's POV

My had the best music rooms. They made me crack a smile every single time I stepped in there.
My personal favourite room was a small classroom with notes on a chalkboard and a large, elegant grand piano in the centre of the room. I played often. It was nice.
Myself and pretty much everyone else at this school had applied for Danganronpa V3. Of course we had - the opportunity of fame and victory was too incredible to resist.
So, I sat on my piano stool and played. I don't remember exactly what it was.
I like to think that it was Moonlight Sonata.
I can't remember.
I gently pressed down on each key when I realised that the piano was awfully out of tune.
"Oi, blondie." A familiar voice barked. "Spending time on the piano again?"
"Ah, Miu, hi."
I couldn't help but get slightly flustered. Miu... I know this sounds cheesy, but she inspires me. She's so bold and confident, her personality shines and not to mention her looks. She's just... incredible. Incredible, but probably not looking for a girlfriend.
She gestured for me to let her sit on the piano stool with me. I did and we were millimetres apart from each other.
"So..." I said, controlling my voice but barely controlling my warm face. "What did you need?"
"Well I heard you playing as usual and thought I'd invite you to a party we're hosting tonight."
"We? Who's we?"
"All the guys who got into V3 of course!"
I paused, my heart pulsing in my throat and shock overcoming me. "I-I-I got in?" My voice was barely a whisper.
Miu raised an eyebrow. "Uh, yeah? The emails came in today with who got in."
"Damn, I didn't check them." I squealed with delight and hugged Iruma. I pulled away almost as soon as I registered what I was doing. Would she hate me for that?
"Well, all the winners are coming over along with their friends so we can all party the night away. I was hoping you could bring snacks and condoms?"
"C-Condoms?"
"Yeah, hundreds of failed applicants will be there, so don't be shocked if there's some magic going on."
"Sure? I-I'll bring... those items."
"Good!" Miu cheered in her usual peppy voice. "I'll text you tonight."
"G-Great!" I responded as she got up to leave. My heart was hammering, and all I heard from outside the classroom was Kokichi's whiny voice.
"Come on, you filthy cow, let's go and spread the word!"

Miu's POV

The party was in full swing. People were dancing, drinking, doing more specific things, and I was having a blast.
The only thing I'd noticed was that Kaede hadn't shown up.
"Hey, Pooichi?" I asked, shuffling my way through the thick crowd to find Shuichi - the soon-to-be SHSL Detective - getting stoned with one of his loser friends. "Have you seen Kae-idiot?"
"Hm? No." He said. He was clearly not all there, his eyes glazed and an unreadable expression on his face.
Finally, I found myself waiting by the door. That's when I saw a car park in front of my house and out came Kaede Akamatsu. She was wearing a flowing pink dress and pastel flats, her hair curled slightly with musical note hairpins in her fringe. She looked drop-dead gorgeous and I couldn't help but wonder if she too was into girls.
"Yo! Kaede!" I greeted as boldly as I could, masking my nerves with amazing acting skills.
"Ah, Miu, hey!" She beamed brightly, passing me the bottles of alcohol that she was carrying along with boxes of condoms.
"Awesome, I'll put these somewhere."
Truthfully, I only got her to buy me that stuff so our hands could possibly touch. They didn't and I'm pretty sure you could hear my heart shatter.
I also had nowhere to put the alcohol. So, I did the most rational thing imaginable - I downed the four bottles without hesitation. A small crowd was gathering, chanting 'chug' over and over again.
I finished them all, but not without consequences.
Immediately I ran up to the bathroom to throw up, a mortified Kaede following close behind, and the rest was a bit more blurry.
I vaguely recalled her taking me up to a vacant room in Kokichi's (massive) mansion and setting me down on the bed.
She just started combing her fingers through my hair and talking about something that I can't remember. I think she even brought a bucket with her.
Damn, this chick was prepared.
She stayed until four am, and she even drove me home.
We kissed in the car. We confessed our love. We blushed a lot and kissed some more.
That's it.
That's all I could remember as I watched her get brutally hung before smashed into a bloody, fleshy pulp.
Her death had brought a memory.
A memory that would hurt me until the day I died.
I wondered if she remembered me, too?

Kaede's POV

I did remember.
I do remember.
Spirits have a lot of things to remember.
I told this to Miu and she agreed with me.
We now sit in the remains of Hope's Peak with the others and smile at what hope was brought upon the survivors that day.
It was nice.
It was nice to be a dead couple.
