Fic title: Heartstrings.

Y/N's POV

"No, Y/N, your playing the wrong chord. We're playing C."
"Right, sorry Kaede."
Focussing on what chord I was playing was the least of my worries. I was more concerned about the cute girl sat beside me. Ever since the killing game started she'd wanted to teach someone piano, something about keeping moral high, and she dragged me into it. I say dragged; I was more than happy to do it for her.
Despite all of the feelings that were warmer than hot chocolate in my chest, stirring and bubbling, I was pretty sure we was pining over Shuichi. She was probably straight.
So, I sat and tried to play my fingers on the right keys.
C... E... G... I pressed the weight of my hand down onto the cool ebony keys to create a clean-sounding chord.
"Sounds good!" Akamatsu cheered. "Now switch to G..."
G... B... D... Again, I pressed down. The note sounded flimsy and weak.
"Hm." Kaede gave the piano a stern look. "The B key sounds out of tune. She shuffled closer to me and I was seconds away from repeatedly bashing my head onto the piano from embarrassment. Why was I getting so flustered?!
She tapped on the white key quickly, drumming her fingers on the piano lid. She started tuning it, and then played a quick tune. It sounded beautiful, elegant, floaty - it reminded me of fluffy white clouds passing through the sky on a winter evening.
Kaede was truly something else.
"It's almost the end of pride month." She pointe out, mid-piece.
"Huh?"
"I think..." she pause, holding her hands millimetres above the keys of the gorgeous grand piano. "I think now's a good time to tell you."
"Tell me what."
"I'm bi."
"Oh, really?"
"Sorry, I shouldn't have blurted it out—"
"No no no, it's just that... I also like girls."
The silence was almost unbearable.
She cleared her throat before mumbling, "Any particular girl?"
Time to be smooth, I told myself, don't mess it up!
I went to kiss her when we bumped noses. We flinched backwards, wincing slightly and going beetroot red.
"Oh my God— I'm so sorry!" I frantically apologised.
"You like me!" Kaede exclaimed, realising what just happened.
"Yeah, I'm sorry, I'll just—"
She gently pecked me on the cheek. "I like you too, dummy."
