"W-why are you doing this?" The tears wouldn't stop falling as he walked away from me. I had finally caught up to him. He stopped and turned to face me, his eyes softened slightly before returning to their harsh gaze. He approached me, and all of our memories flashed through my mind.

This wasn't the same Sasuke I had been training with, this wasn't the same person I grew to care about so much it hurt. My breathing quickened as he stood in front of me.

"I need more power and staying here won't help me achieve that," He said, looking harshly at me. I felt myself wince at the tone of his words.

"But you don't have to, you can stay here and.."

"You and I both know that's not possible." Sasuke glared at me. I felt more tears well up and spill onto my cheeks. I looked to the ground, and I gasped as I felt his hand on my cheek. His hand made its way under my chin and lifted it so I was looking up at him.

His eyes had softened once more, "I'll come back for you, once I'm stronger."

"Don't leave in the first place," I cried as I surged forward and wrapped my arms around him. Sasuke turned stiff, his arms straight at his sides. I cried into his shoulder and a few minutes later his hands were on my shoulders as he pushed me a few inches away from him.

I covered my face with my hands, his grip still firm on my shaking shoulders.

"Look at me, please." Sasuke said, his tone almost pleading. I put my hands at my sides and looked up at him.

"I have to leave, it's the only way I can take my revenge," Sasuke said to me, tears still slipped from my eyes. I wanted to protest and try to make him stay with me and everyone, but I knew it would be a waste of breath. His mind was made up, and he was stubborn, there was no way I could change it.

I tried one more time, my voice coming out broken, "Please...don't leave me.."

Suddenly in one quick motion, Sasuke placed a gentle kiss on my forehead. I let out a small gasp; his hands left their place on my shoulders.

"I'm going to Orochimaru to be stronger, and when I am, I will come back for you," Sasuke stated as he began turning away from me. "That's a promise."

Before I had time to blink, he was gone. I fell to my knees, tears blurring my vision.

A few years had past since Sasuke left, and I still had nightmares about that day. I woke up every time with my cheeks tear stained, and I wasn't the only one, his former teammates were hit just as hard as I was by his disappearance. Naruto and Sakura vowed to find him and bring him back.

I had been trying my best to dig up leads about Orochimaru's whereabouts the best I could, but I only had so much time between training and missions.

I had grown up in the years since he left, I had gotten taller, gained a little more muscle and thinned out a bit. I grew my (h/c) hair out longer and tied it in a pony tail for my missions.

Sakura had become my closest friend, she understood how I felt about everything and she was right beside me whenever I needed her. We trained together nearly every day, she even taught me some medical ninjutsu Lady Tsunade he shown her.

I wasn't that good at it, but I could do some basic level healing. It was useful during missions when someone got a glancing blow from a kunai or shuriken or any small injury.

It was a cold autumn night when Sakura and I returned from our simple mission. Someone had needed an escort to the Land of Fires borders, and we helped him reach his destination. We didn't return home until late in the evening a day later. The cold breeze danced around us as we walked through the village gates. We were exhausted and starving, we hadn't eaten since that morning.

"(Y/N), you want to get something to eat before we head home? I'll pay, we can report to Lady Tsunade in the morning," Sakura said, a yawn creeping into her voice. Usually I would, but I was more tired than usual that day and wanted nothing more than to curl up in bed.

"I'll have to take you up on that offer another time, I don't think i've ever been this tired in my life," I laughed a bit and she smiled at me.

"That's alright, I'll see you in the morning then." Sakura waved goodbye to me before heading home. I walked down the street to the home I shared with my parents, they were most likely asleep at this time. I crept through the door, careful to shut it quietly behind me. I took off my shoes and made my way to my bedroom.

Once I entered my room, I flung myself onto my bed and looked through the window that overlooked my father's garden. The stars were visible that night, and the moonlight shimmered on the small pond that stood in the middle of the garden. I got up and went to change into my pajamas when I saw a shadow pass over my room. I was quick to grab a kunai from my pouch and hold it near me, taking a defensive stance.

I walked to my window and looked out, I couldn't see anyone. When I turned away the shadow returned and I stood stock still and turned to see who or what was outside. I stifled a scream when I saw a person standing outside my window, from the looks of it he was tall and was shrouded in a cloak.

I didn't care who this was, but I wanted them away from my home and away from my family. Kunai in hand, I ran out of my room and outside the door. I had left my shoes by the door and ran through the cold grass barefooted.

When I reached my fathers garden I took a defensive stance and the person in the cloak turned to me. I began to shake a little, but I held my ground.

"Who are you?" I demanded, becoming angrier and more scared. I didn't know who this was and what they were capable of. For all I know they could murder me and my family without making a sound. The thought made me shake harder.

The figure began walking towards me and I began backing up. I threw the kunai as hard as I could in their direction, but they simply lifted out a hand and caught it. I took a deep breath and decided to use a new jutsu I had been practicing.

I closed my eyes and concentrated chakra into my hands, after I performed some hand signs I turned the chakra into a flame that stood on the palm of my hand. I rushed forward and brought my palm near my face, using some of my chakra I blew onto the flame causing it to become larger and rush in the direction of the figure as I ran.

It seemed as if I had hit them, but a hand grabbed my wrist. The flame went out, and I gasped. My flames had singed some of my father's flowers and some of the grass. I looked to my side and saw the figure standing there with my wrist firmly in their hand. I glanced down and noticed the hem of the cloak had been burned.

"Get off of me!" I attempted to yank my wrist from them, but to no avail. I was in their hands and my only choice now was to wake my parents to get help. I opened my mouth to call for help, but a hand clapped over my mouth putting that to an end.

I continued to struggle and squirm to try and get out of their hold on me.

"Will you quit moving please, you're making this harder than it has to be." An emotionless voice spoke into my ear and my breath caught in my throat. I knew that voice, but it couldn't be...

He removed his hand from my mouth, "Don't make any attempt to scream and just listen to me."

I couldn't even if I wanted to, my throat had gone dry and my mind was blank.

"S-Sasuke.." I managed to choke out. My breathing quickened and my vision began to blur and black dots overtook his face.

The last thing I heard was Sasuke muttering, "For God's Sa-"
