I looked at myself in the mirror once more.

"You can do this!" I said to myself firmly, but as I looked at myself I began blushing.

"Who am I kidding? This is ridiculous." I slid to the bathroom floor and sat down. I jumped when I heard a knock at the bathroom door.

"Are you okay in there sweetie? If you don't hurry you might miss him." My mother said through the door. I sighed and got up, confessing my feelings would be the only way to get him to notice me. It was my mother's idea, she pushed me to go through with it. I left the bathroom and turned to look and my mom, she gave me a wink. I heaved a huge sigh again and slipped on my shoes.

I was sure they were by the training field, at least that's what Lee told me earlier when I saw him in town. I decided it would be a good time then to tell Neji how I felt. He would never know how I felt unless I told him, right? I kept telling myself that as I made my way to the field.

I had a crush on Neji for only a short time, but I knew it would go no where if I didn't say anything to him. My friend, Rock Lee, was the person who introduced me to him. I had graduated the academy with both of them, but we were on separate teams. Throughout our academy days, I had noticed Lee getting picked on by the other students, so I decided to defend him one day and we eventually became friends.

We hung out all the time when we weren't training and I enjoyed his company, and since he was with his team all the time it was inevitable I would run into Neji as well. That's how I developed this crush on him.

I thought about this as I walked to the training field, kicking some stray stones along the way. I soon made it to the fenced in area, and I heard voices so I hid behind a tree near the entrance. I was able to peek out and see who was talking without them seeing me. I looked and, to my dismay, didn't see Neji there, but I did see Lee and Gai talking. It looked like Lee was getting lectured, as he usually was. I was about to walk away and try again tomorrow when I heard my name.

I hadn't caught the rest of the sentence, but I heard "(Y/N)" loud and clear. I slipped back into my hiding place, now interested in what they were talking about.

"It is just hopeless Gai-Sensei," Lee said, sounding defeated, which was weird because Lee was the most driven person I know. The words "give up" weren't part of his vocabulary. Gai-Sensei sighed, annoyed. He put his hand on Lee's shoulder.

"How do you know?" Gai-Sensei said. "You haven't even tried, you've practically given up, I'm disappointed in you Lee."

Lee let out a horrified gasp and dropped to his knees, "I am sorry Gai-Sensei! I promise I have not given up, it is just that I can not change someone's feelings."

"That sounds like an excuse, it also sounds like you don't really love her." Gai-Sensei cast his gaze down to Lee, and my mind began turning. There's no way he was talking about me, was there?

When Lee looked back up at Gai from his place on the ground, his cheeks were pink, "But I do, she is sweet, beautiful, kind and she is always smiling, it is just that she does not see me that way, she likes someone else."

"Gai-Sensei I do not know what to do." Lee got up, brushing himself off as he did so. I couldn't pull my eyes away, it sounded like they were talking about me; however, if Lee felt that way, he would've just told me.

"Lee," Gai started, his hands on his hips. "If that's how you really feel about (Y/N), then you have to tell her."

I clapped a hand over my mouth and hid completely behind the bush. My face turned beet red, and I ran home faster than I ever thought I could. I ran past the people at the gate, past all the people walking through town, up the stairs and into my room.

"Honey, are you alright?" I heard my mom call from downstairs.

"Y-yeah! Just fine!" I called back, flopping onto my bed face first. I turned my head and looked at my door that led to my tiny balcony. It was very small, but the view was unbeatable.

I didn't know Lee thought that highly of me, it made my face heat up even more than it had. I would have thought finding out Lee had these feelings would make me feel awkward and uncomfortable; up until then I had only thought of his as a friend. The strange thing was, it really didn't make me feel awkward at all.

It kind of felt...nice. I shook my head quickly. No, no I just had feelings for Neji an hour ago! How can I change that quickly.

I decided that it would be unfair of me to change my feelings that quickly, but I couldn't help but feel butterflies when I thought of what Lee said.

"...she is sweet, beautiful, kind and she is always smiling.."

I shoved my face into a pillow, this was all too much too soon. I only had a few moments to process what was going on when I heard a knock on my balcony door. I whipped my head to face the door, only to find Lee standing on my balcony, his cheeks pink and a hand behind his back. I hung my head a bit to hide my growing blush.

I swore that red had become my faces new color. I walked up to the door and opened, stepping out on the balcony. The size of the balcony only allowed us to stand about six inches apart. Usually I could find a multitude of different things to say to Lee, we talked about anything and everything.

But right now, none of them came to mind. Lee cleared his throat and he gained a glint in his eyes.

"(Y/N), I know you like Neji and I do not wish to confuse you, but I can not keep this in any longer," He began before shoving a bouquet of flowers millimeters away from the tip of my nose. "I...I am in love with you, and I would really like it if you went on a date with me."

Lee's eyes were shut tightly, like he was anticipating a rejection already. I looked up and him, and smiled softly. Without thinking, I leaned up and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. His eyes opened wide, and his blush spread.

"To answer your question, I would love to go on a date with you." I gently took the flowers from his hand. Lee looked like he was about to dance with joy, but due to the balcony's small size he had to suppress this urge.

"I will not disappoint you, (Y/N), I promise." Lee jumped on the balcony's ledge and waved good bye to me. I giggled and waved to him as he jumped to the ground. I looked at the flowers and saw they were (f/f)s, my favorites. I smiled and lovingly caressed the petals. I went to go back inside, and as I did I heard Lee outside.

"She said yes! She said yes, Gai-Sensei!" I heard Lee yelling, the excitement in his voice could be heard for miles. I giggled again and walked downstairs to find a vase for my flowers.

While I filled a cup with water, I found myself bursting with excitement about my date with Lee.
