///Kisame\\\

She reminds me of a summer storm, powerful . She moves gracefully and she almost floats across the floor. Her smile is warm and gentle, but her sharp glare is enough to send the most powerful of shinobi retreating.

Whenever she's in the room, my eyes can't help but find her. She catches me staring all of the time, and yet I can't help myself. Whenever she meets my gaze, I become weak.

She's the embodiment of perfection, and I'm in love with her. The only problem is she would never love me back.

I aim a few more attacks at the tree in front of me before sitting on the ground. I had been training all morning, and my exhaustion had caught up with me. My palms are raw and burning. I place them on grass for some relief, and it helps for a bit.

I look up at the sky and allow the wind to blow through my hair and across my face. I close my eyes to enjoy the sensation a bit longer.

My life in the Akatsuki is usually very hectic and I'm always surrounded by others. Moments where I am by myself with nothing pressing to do are rare to come by. I try to savor them while I can, but they disappear before I can even think to.

"Giving up already?" A voice says and I hear footsteps approach my spot. I open one eye and glance over to find Kisame walking over to me; although I don't like getting interrupted. Unless it's him, I really didn't mind.

He's my closest friend I have in the Akatsuki, we spend a lot of time together. We get along rather well despite his general over the top nature when it came to most things. He doesn't come across as such sometimes, but he's rather smart and we have had some interesting conversations before. He is the only person in this criminal organization I feel comfortable opening up to a bit, and I know he feels the same as he has opened up to me as well.

"I've been at it all morning," I reply, opening both eyes and sitting up. "I thought I deserved a break."

He chuckled in response and looks over at the tree I had been using as a target. I look him up and down for a moment. He's not wearing his cloak like usual, and his sword isn't attached to his back. He's leaning against it as he observes the marks I had left on the innocent tree.

"You've gotten stronger," He comments, his eyes not leaving the tree. I snort and stand up so I don't have to look up so far to see him.

"You say that like I wasn't strong to begin with." I cross my arms over my chest and lean all of my weight onto one side.

"You were strong already, but you've gotten even stronger," He clarifies, turning to look at me. I don't response and our eyes meet for a moment. Something flashes within his that I don't have time to read. He deflects his gaze to the tree trunk behind me.

"Why no cloak today?" I question, going over to the tree to pick up some ninja tools of mine that fell on the ground, my hands still throbbing slightly. He follows close behind me.

"I decided to train a bit and I thought it would get in the way," He responds coolly. I nod and gather the tools in my arms, I ask him to help me get the remaining ones I can't fit in my embrace. He does so and we then begin to walk back to the hideout.

I can sense something off about us, he seems to be acting odd. Usually we can talk about almost anything, but lately he's been uncharacteristically quiet around me. Things feel awkward around us and the air feels heavy, like it's almost suffocating me. I turn to him and see his gaze focused fully forward, and his jaw is tight. I can tell he's deep in thought, but my curiosity gets the better of me.

"What's the matter?" I ask and he simply glances sideways at me. I see him take a short breath and he's thinking about his answer.

"Nothing," He answers, taking too long to do so only to answer with a single word.

"It's something," I press. "You're never like this."

He lets out a gruff breath and runs a frustrated hand to his hair, "You wouldn't understand, I'm fine really."

"Alright Kisame, two things," I stop walking and face him with my arms crossed. "One: You are not allowed to follow up 'you wouldn't understand' with 'I'm fine'."

"Two: I could at least try to understand if you told me," I finish, raising an eyebrow at him. He looks at me with a look I can't read and then to the ground.

"Just say it," I urge. "You'll feel better if you do."

"I..." He seems unsure as he searches for the right words. Something must be wrong, he never acts like this. I've never seen him hesitate before.

"Just spit it out already!"

"I'm in love with you okay?" He says and my eyes nearly pop out of my head, that was the last thing I expected him to say. "And I've been in love with you for awhile, but I didn't want to tell you because I knew you wouldn't feel the same."

"How would I have known that if you hadn't told me?" I ask, my face heating up as his words sink into my head.

"Because I'm a monster," He looks away from me, almost in shame. I take a few tentative steps over to him, his eyes still not leaving their place ahead of him. I slowly reach my hand out and touch his shoulder, he flinches a little under my hand.

"I don't think that," I mumble, resting my hand on his shoulder. He doesn't say anything so I continue.

"Although you can be a little much at times, you're no where near a monster." I remove my hand from his shoulder and in a bold move I wrap my arms around his waist from behind. He tenses up and I rest my head on his back. I feel him let out a long breath and I close my eyes for a moment.

It hurt to see him like this, he's always so confident that I would have never thought about him being this insecure. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit excited by the fact that he was in love with me.

I open my eyes when I feel one of his hands on top of mine. He lets out another long breath and slowly removes my arms from around him. I look up to him as he does so and in one motion he wraps his arms around me, pulling me into his chest. I'm surprised by the sudden gesture, but I return it.

"Thank you, (Y/N)," He mutters into my hair and I hum in response. My heart begins to beat faster as I think about his feelings towards me, and what the future looks like for us.
