It was the day of the chuunin exam finals, and everyone in the village was making their way to the arena. Everyone except me, that is. I was heading toward the academy.

My boyfriend, of about four months, was there finishing paper work and I wanted to check on him. Most of his previous students were fighting in the finals, one of them being Naruto. I knew how much Naruto meant to him, and I knew how worried he was about him.

I walked through the academy's doors, and most everyone was gone, as opposed to when I usually come here. There was usually students running around everywhere and teachers talking in loud voices, but today it was quiet, only the sound of the birds outside could be heard.

I walked up the stairs to find his office, when I got to the door I knocked. I heard him say 'come in' but it sounded more like a long breath. I opened the door to a small crack and poked my head in. My (h/c) hair was usually tied away from my face, but I had a day off today so it was down. As I looked to see him, some of it fell over my shoulder.

"Oh, good morning (Y/N)." He said, smiling. I could see that he was worried, even if he didn't look like it. He had a small pile of books and loose papers, some scattered around him. As I walked towards him, I noticed that none of it was touched.

"How long have you been here?" I asked, sitting on the table with my feet on a chair near his. He looked up from the paper and up at me, his chin in his hand.

"Since this morning, why?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "I come here the same time everyday, you know that."

I laughed a bit, "Then why haven't you touched your work?"

"W-well...I.." He stuttered, looking down at his paper and back at me. I let out a breathy laugh, I knew why he was so distracted. I wanted him to tell me though, before I made any assumptions.

He let out a long sigh and placed his arm flat on the desk, across the paper. I watched him as he stood up and walked over to the window.

"You know, the chuunin finals must be starting soon." I remarked, jumping down from the table. "Naruto is in the first match isn't he?"

Iruka turned to look at me, worry evident in his eyes, "Yeah, yeah he is."

"You're not going to go see him?" I asked, walking to stand next to him by the window. Iruka let out a shaky breath and looked down at me. I placed my hands on the window sill, the arena could be seen from a distance. I followed to his gaze to the arena, and I knew my assumption was correct. He's more worried about Naruto than he's letting on.

I put my hand on his left shoulder, he stiffened a bit but relaxed quickly. He slowly reached his right hand up and interlaced it with mine on his shoulder. He closed his eyes and I watched him.

He looked over at me. "I'm worried about him."

"Anyone could see that," I laughed a bit, squeezing his hand a little. He reciprocated my gesture, and squeezed my hand back. Our relationship was never overly physical, but physical affection wasn't rare. He stepped a bit closer to me so our arms were touching, our hands still interlaced.

"I can't help it, he-"

"Have a little more faith in him." I looked up at him, and he turned to meet my eyes. "He has been training hard for this, and he has had Kakashi."

"Not to mention he had a great teacher before." I giggled softly.

Iruka let go of my hand and rubbed the back of his neck, his cheeks tinted pink, "Well I wouldn't say great..."

I laughed again, nudging him before walking back towards my spot at the table, "I would, give yourself a little more credit."

Iruka smiled a little, and looked a little more relaxed than before. He looked out of the window a moment longer before turning back to me.

"Don't you have classes today?" I asked swinging my legs a bit. He nodded before moving over to his paper stack and making it neater.

He was pretty high strung, and he had the tendency to worry; however, that didn't change the fact that he was thoughtful and sweet. I smiled a bit, I couldn't be an luckier.

After he was done organizing the papers, he leaned against the table, next to me. He took a deep breath.

"Thank you." He turned towards me. I looked at him confused.

"For what?" I asked moving my hair so it was off of my shoulders.

"Being you," He replied, and I smiled. We sat there for awhile and enjoyed each other's company when we heard the children coming to the academy. I got off the table and brushed myself off.

"That's my cue," Iruka said standing up as well.

"I'm going to the arena now, hopefully I can still catch some of Naruto's match." I turned towards him and he brought me into a hug. I wrapped my arms around his waist, and he held me tightly.

"See you later," He said softly before leaning down to give me a quick kiss. We were about to pull away when I leaned in a kissed him once more.

"For good luck, I'll tell you about the matches later." I said as he walked me out of the academy. We said goodbye once more and I made my way to the arena.
