Isa's pov

Going back to work, was for me like Christmas's day for a kid. The truth was... I found comfort in those alleys, I found comfort in my scrub, in my stetoscophe, and every single operating room, teh smell of disinfectant.

The sanitizer's smell, and freshly cleaned O.R, as well as the gown I wore, like a shinig armor made me fell secure. I find comfort in poetry too, to be able to relate in someone poem it's a miracle, I believe. Many times reading some Greeks myths that talked about tragedies, I felt reassured in knowing that they too, despite being gods they had to go through heartaches, pain, betrayal and love.

Then they were kids, I've always loved them; but when I was between middle school and high school I realized how brave they're living in so many f****d up situations, but standing intact with their innocence, and will to believe in anything that's gonna get them through it. Plus they're cute and funny and most of them don't have malicious intents.

It was 3 a.m, when I woke up, luckily Ezra was still sleeping so I had a shower. I stared myself in the mirror, trying not to have a breakdown, my body, was not what it used to be and that scared me to bits.

Despite my attempt in keeping everyone sleeping my girl woke up and came looking for me, "Ti ho svegliato, a mamma?" (Did I wake you up, mama?) I asked picking her up, even just seeing her made me emotional, let's blame it on the hormones. "No, I wanted to... so I can see you" she whispered in my ear. "You did? Are you not sleepy?" Addy yawned covering her mouth, " I'm not tired" she lied.

I took her arm where her watch/ GPS tracker was "When you miss me you can simply call me, even if it's just to say that you are washing your hands, having a snack, or tying your shoes, I'll be waiting". Seeing as I was already dressed I decided to spend some time with Adaline till she had fallen asleep. So we laid together next to a snoring Aaron, Adaline on top of me just like she was a newborn, I kept patting her back talking about when she was a tiny baby, she quickly fell asleep.

I breastfed Ezra before going, left a post-it for Aaron with Ezra's eating schedule, and Addie's afterschool activities, then left.

At the hospital I was kept busy, during my shift: my first patient had abdominal pain, persistent vomiting , so I had her have her blood tested, turned out she had appendicitis, ( inflammation of the appendix). Second was a male complaining stomach pain, weight loss, and vomiting, we did some test but found nothing crucial, we asked about his whereabouts, and if he had changed his diet or ate something unusual.

He had eaten a piece of raw meat in one of his many trips abroad recently, so I had an x-ray performed on him, and found out, what or better who had been the cause of him being sick: a long-ass parasite (6 meters, 20 foot- long) tapeworm. I was beyond amused when a nurse found it from my patient's feces.

Then I assisted to a correction of a heart defect, called atrioventricular septal defect, it consists in the presence of a large opening right in the centre of the heart.

Once my shift was over I was a aching zombie ( I had stopped drinking coffee with caffeine since Ezra's birth); "You're driving" I notified Rajiv tagging along with him, " Oh, sweetie I'm not coming home. I'm gonna hunt today" he said putting his backpack inside the car, I halted in front of him "Why?" "I wanna give you guys some space, you know... to do your stuff..." he whispered the last part.

"Oh, no, please don't. Last time you did I got pregnant, plus I feel awkward with him still" "Honey, please. He saw your son come out from your vagina, there's absolutely nothing to be awkward about" "Stop, you owe me remember? Please come home, I'm gonna cook for you" I proposed despite how tired I was. "You don't need to, I missed you as well"

At the end he accepted, there was something I couldn't point out what yet, but there was, and it kept bothering me. "Mommy's home".

Isa had left early, she had fed my boy before going so I was gonna be cool, for about three hours (If I was lucky), which didn't happen, so I had to get up at about 5 a.m to feed him again; the face of that baby at the realisation that the nipple he was being fed with was artificial, I cannot describe with words, he also failed to latch properly resulting in him checking by the second time though I had learned how to manage that; once my buddy was knocked out, I too was able to rest for 45 minutes then the alarm went off.

Time to start the day, fuck! "Hurry up, Addy don't you have to go potty?" "No, I don't. I capelli, please" ( tie my hair please) she asked standing next to me; "What? Just English please" "Uffa! Can you tie my hair?" she scoffed annoyed with my ignorance, with three shots I was able to pull that off.

Luckily, Addy could wash her teeth, and face by herself, "Come here let me put some oil, on that dry face" Addy was already looking at me with a sceptical look, come on, kiddo give me some trust I thought, "Stop, that's too much, don't put it on my hair, they'll get geazy" she complained trying to escape "I'm sorry sweetie".

I left her to get dressed, to attend his majesty Ezra, who loved to be held, apparently not like I was doing, so he started to scream his head off as if he was being tortured. How can people do this everyday?

"Adaline, come eat your breakfast, we have less than 10 mins." I ordered her, she came out of her room, needless to say I was amazed by her choice of clothes, she resembled her mother so much.

"Dov'é la mia frutta?" (Where is my fruit?) she asked sitting down, she ate quietly her salad, and went on with her fruit and her slice of bread, Adaline being content, was thanks to Isa: she had prepared everything before leaving.
