"Knock, knock!" Freddie calls from behind my bedroom door. It was always nice to hear his voice, I only hadn't seen him in about 10 minutes, but I already started to miss the sound of his voice. I was always used to hearing Kelsey distantly sing (or lack of ability to sing, might be a better phrase) or her phone calls with Lance, so silence really did freak me out.
"Come in! I call, trying to hide away my MacBook before he can ask more questions about it, but he's already opened the door and catches a glimpse of it before I put it away. Of course, he starts begging me to show him how it works.
"Ugghh! Alright!" I cry. I give up so easily when I'm fighting against him. He's very persuasive. Or maybe just annoying. I open up my computer again and see Freddie lose himself in wonder and excitement over this very ordinary laptop.
"How does it even-."
"I have no idea! I just use the thing, I have no clue at all how it works. John would probably know more than me." I joke, but Freddie just looks at me weirdly.
"John who?" Oh crap, I said too much again. How would a casual listener know what the bassist of the Queen's major was in university?
"John.. Corfeld. My little brother." I saved narrowly. No, I don't have a little brother called John, I would absolutely freak out if I did. I've considered naming my non-existent children after the members of Queen, but unfortunately, there are no suitors waiting to claim my hand just yet. So little baby John will have to wait.
"Your last name is Corfeld?" Freddie chuckles. Thank god I thought twice about making fun of his real last name. I really don't need anymore freaky stalker evidence pinned against me right now.
"Yeah? So what, Mr Mercury?" I tease, but obviously, it doesn't hurt. Who would be ashamed of the last name Mercury? Freddie scoffed.
"Well for your information, my last name i-." He stopped. Of course, I already knew his last name. I didn't need him to tell me, but I could tell he wasn't ready for me to know that at least know it from him. His real last name was a very intense link to his personal life, that I wasn't trusted enough to be apart of yet, but I understood. I knew that there were only a very select few people throughout Freddie's life that actually ever got that close to him. I was no Mary, I knew that much, and I wasn't going to push him for anything he didn't want to give me.
"Is, incredible and unique I know, I know. I had nothing else to crack at." I admitted. Leading him off that topic, so he didn't have to explain himself to me. Freddie looked relieved and quickly jumped at the opportunity to change the topic.
"Alright." Freddies started, putting both of his hands behind his back. "Pick a hand," Freddie commanded.
"Freddie, what's goin-."
"Just pick a hand! It'll be fun, I promise!" He's really excited by this, but I can also see a hint of mischief in his face. I sigh and point to the right. Knowing that no matter what lay install for me, I had no voice in the matter. Freddie slowly pulls out his right hand and I can see a plate with two of the biscuits that Katie and him made today on it. That was it?
"What's the catch?" I ask, there is no way he just brought me cookies, there has to be some sort of spring-snake-in-a-can-type addition to this. His smile turns even bigger.
"I just want you to try them, love, that's all! I thought we could try them together. I worked very hard on these you know." I'm certain he did, he's probably never baked in his life. I look down at the cookies again and then up at Freddie. If he's going to play this game (whatever 'this game is'), I may as well play against him.
