Dumbledore put down the parchment and put down his glasses.

"M-Medusa's necklace? I never even met her." she frowned and Dumbledore cleared his throat,

"If I may, Miss Potter. I knew Medusa Malfoy or, as she was then, Medusa Quinn. She was a Ravenclaw, particularly gifted in Charms and was rather shy. She and Abraxas met when he saved her from some of his classmates as they attempted to hex her for simply reading a book. She needn't the aid of anyone however, she shouted at the bullies and gained the respect of many people, including Abraxas'." Dumbledore observed Eloise's shocked face and clasped his hands together on his desk, "For such a malicious man, Abraxas was rather calm around her, she was a kind woman, not seeking out conflict. After she died, I believe it affected Abraxas, turning him- for lack of a better word: sour." Dumbledore opened a drawer and pulled out a necklace, a simple silver chain with a small diamond pendant. Eloise took it from the Headmaster's outstretched hand and observed it closer, noticing some writing inscribed on the back of the pendant, 'Pur mais aimant. Femelles pourtant fortes. Montre au monde, mon enfant.' Eloise frowned and looked up at Dumbledore who smiled,

"Pure yet loving. Female yet strong. Show the world, my child." Eloise translated it into english, "Sir, I don't think this is for me, it's probably for her actual child." she rubbed her thumb over he jewel and saw Dumbledore smile widen

"I think you're mistaken, Miss Potter." he said and Eloise frowned, "Medusa and Abraxas' child, it was a son was it not?"

"Yes...Draco."

"Well, if my knowledge of french serves me correctly, it says 'femelles'. I think that proves it's for you."

"It means female." Eloise whispered, eyes wide, "If it was for Draco it would be mâle." Dumbledore nodded, "But she died when I was a baby, why would she have given it to me?"

"You were her sister's child, Eloise...or should I say Isabelle?" Dumbledore's eyes sparkled, "The Malfoys were a family of many mysteries." he said, "I expect there's a reason for giving you such a priceless heirloom."

"Probably wanted to keep it in the possession of a pureblood." Eloise scoffed,

"I think it may be more than that." Dumbledore said seriously and Eloise looked up,

"What do you mean, Sir?" Dumbledore sighed and rubbed his eyes,

"The Quinns are among the oldest wizarding families in the world, and are commonly affiliated with the house of Ravenclaw." he pointed to the necklace in Eloise's hand, "That necklace is thought to have been worn by Rowena Ravenclaw herself, having been passed down the family over generations." Eloise gasped and looked at the dainty chain, the glistening jewel that wore no scratches...it looked brand new. "It has been speculated, that Ravenclaw deposited some of her knowledge in that necklace, almost siphoning it into the object, to be used as a container as such."

"So you're telling me," Eloise's voice was quiet as she continued to stare at the jewelry she held, "That I'm holding a bit of Rowena Ravenclaw's mind?" she looked up and Dumbledore was nodding,

"It certainly looks that way."

"Wicked!" she grinned and Dumbledore smiled, "Do you think, Sir, that if I were to wear it, I'd get the knowledge?"

"I'm not entirely certain, Miss Potter. Not unless the wearer knows how to harness the contents I should think."

"So it's possible."

"I have no doubt in my mind." Dumbledore and Eloise shared a smile and the girl clipped the necklace around her neck, letting it bounce against her chest. Her smile slid off of her face as a thought sprung to her mind,

"It isn't going to work for me is it? I'm not a direct descendant of Ravenclaw."

"No, you're not, although magic works in mysterious ways, Miss Potter." Eloise glanced upwards, "Medusa may not have been your mother, but she was your aunt. Not to mention the fact that it was gifted to you, it's yours. Perhaps the mere ownership ensures the use of its power." Dumbledore checked his watch, "Alas! It's almost dinner time. Before you leave, Miss Potter, we have to discuss the placement of Mitsie. If you would summon her..." the old wizard gestured for her to do so and Eloise cleared her throat,

"Ummm, Mitsie? Could you-umm come here?" there was a crack and the familiar elf was at her feet,

"Mistress Malfoy!" she shouted and fell to her knees, kissing at Eloise's robes,

"Hiya Mitsie, but it's Potter, remember?" at her words the small elf looked positively horrified,

"Mitsie is so, very sorry, Mistress Potter, Mitsie will never do it again." tears welled up in her eyes and she moved to bang her head on the desk. Eloise, being used to Mitsie's reprimanding, caught her before she did so,

"No, don't worry, Mitsie, it's fine...and call me Eloise." she set the elf down and her big eyes widened,

"Mitsie calling Mistress Potter by her first name? M-Mitsie isn't allowed." Eloise frowned,

"Of course you are, I just said you could, didn't I?" Eloise smiled at the small creature and she smiled back,

"Very well, Mistr- Eloise, what can Mitsie do for you?"

"Well, Mitsie, as you probably already know, I own you know and we were wondering where to put you while I'm at school." Eloise turned to the headmaster, "I don't want her going back to Malfoy Manor, Sir." she said and Dumbledore nodded,

"Of course, Potter Mansion perhaps?" he asked and Eloise thought for a moment,

"We already have Battie and Gus." she said, remembering the little house elves in their assorted clothing, since her parents refused to let them be in measly tea towels.

"How about here at Hogwarts?" Dumbledore asked and Eloise smiled,

"What do you think, Mitsie?"

"Oh, whatever would make Mistre- Eloise happy." she smiled and Eloise nodded,

"Well that's settled then, from now on Mitsie will be at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry..." she paused and smiled down at the small elf who basically raised her, "With me."
