Q1: Does writing exhaust or energize you?

"I usually start off pretty energetic and excited, but I think the computer screen drains me quite a bit, so I'm worn out by the time I'm finished."

Q2: What literacy pilgrimages have you gone on?

"It's sad, but I would say none."

Q3: What are common traps for aspiring young writers?

1) "Distraction-such as Facebook, instagram, etc.

2) Lack of confidence. Seasoned writers know that the first drafts are crap, and even when we get confused we keep pushing...but I think young writers have a tendency to disbelieve in themselves and give up.

3) "Last is patience. It takes a long time to write 90,000 words. Don't give up!"

Q4: If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

"I would tell myself to buckle down and create a writing schedule. Writing a day or two a week is not cutting it."

Q5: How did publishing your first book change your process of writing?

"Although I have a meeting with some publishers in May, I'm not traditionally published (yet...hopefully)

I think getting feedback on Wattpad has been a huge help though. I feel like the readers are helping to shape my books with their feedback, and even though I'm veering off my plot outline, I couldn't be happier.

Also I'm working with a bestselling author on a TV adaptation, and seeing how normal she is, and how relaxed her writing process is, has made the impossible seem more attainable and more real.

Professional writers are just like any other writer. What separates them is a bad a$$ work ethic."

Q6: What was an early experience where you learned that language had power?

"I learned words were magic that could take you on adventures when I was very young. I was an introverted tomboy who had very few friends and spent most of my time outside or in my room reading."

Q7: Do you try to be original or give the readers what they want?

"It depends. When I'm writing romance I think of an original idea and then give the readers what they want within that idea. If I am working on a fantasy, however, I just let my imagination run wild."

Q8: Do you base your characters on real people?

"Hmm...if I do, I'm not telling them. It sounds funny, but I think all my characters include bits and pieces of me inside of them. Some have y insecurities, my quirkinesses, some have my sassy mouth, etc."

Q9: What has influenced you most as a writer?

"Amazing books, too many to name, are always a big influence for me. Whenever I start to get writers block, or feel down on my own writing, I pick up a good book for a day and become rejuvenated."

Q10: What is your favourite book genre to read and why?

"My genres swing all over the place, but I do have a soft spot for romance. What can I say? I'm a romantic."

Q11: If you had an opportunity to live anywhere in the world for a year while writing a book that took place in that same setting, where would you choose?

"It would probably be Seattle, New York, Paris or London! I'm used to living in a small town, so a big city would be great fun."

Q12: What do you enjoy most about writing?

"I love looking back on things that I have written previously after a couple of months, after thinking what I wrote was just so-so, and a smile growing on my face as if I was reading someone else's work."
