Chapter 4

Lunch

"Is this seat already taken?" I formally asked the girl sitting beside the vacant seat.

Iyon na lamang kasi ang bakanteng upuan sa klase. Umiling siya at nagpatuloy sa pagbabasa ng libro niya na natigil dahil sa ginawa kong pagtatanong kanina.

Umupo ako sa upuan at nilabas ang mga libro at gamit ko dahil ano mang oras ay paparating na rin ang professor namin. Habang naghihintay ng teacher ay hindi ko mapigilang hindi mapatingin sa katabi kong babae. Siya rin ang babaeng may asul na mga mata kahapon. Kagaya pa rin kahapon ang outfit niya, iba ngalang ang design at kulay. I don't know why I'm interested in her; hindi lang siguro pangkaraniwan dito sa Pilipinas ang kulay ng mga mata niya, kaya siguro ako ganito.

She adjusted the eyeglasses on her eyes then continued to read her book. The book she was reading was all about business management. After a few minutes, the professor arrived then started the lesson.

"That's all for today."

Inayos ko ang mga gamit ko at naghanda na para makapunta na ako sa sunod kong klase.

"Alexa, we're going to the mall mamaya. You want to come along?" tanong sa akin ng isa sa mga kaklase ko sa subject na iyon.

She's asking me to tag along, but I can't even remember her name or even her face. I just know that we are in the same class because she's in this room. I gave her and her friends my fake smile and politely declined their offer.

Umalis naman sila sa harapan ko pagkatapos kong tumanggi.

"You're Rain right?"

Papaalis na sana ako nang makita kong kausap naman nila ang babaeng katabi ko kanina. Natigil siya sa pag-aayos ng kaniyang mga gamit at tumango.

"You want to come along with us? We're going to the mall, mamaya."

I guessed these girls are just really friendly and they don't mean any harm, but I'm not up for that kind of bullshits now. Friendship? You don't know where and when your so-called friends will betray you just for their own safety and benefit.

She gave them a timid smile.

"Sorry, pero may gagawin kasi ako," sinabi niya sa isang maliit at matamis na boses.

She looked shy. Tumango naman ang mga babae at nagpaalam sa kaniya.

Nagpatuloy na lamang ako sa paglabas ng room at pagpunta sa sunod kong klase. Natapos ang sumunod kong klase at wala na akong klase hanggang mag alas dose which is gagamitin ko para magpunta sa gymnasium. Ngayon kasi iaanounce kung sino ang mga nakapasok sa volleyball team.

"Mine!"

I jumped and hit the ball before it touched the ground. The ball went to the other side of the net and the opponent did not successfully return the ball to our side, which made our team earn a point.

Pagkatapos sabihin ang mga nakapasok sa team ay pinagpalit kami ng uniform para sa mga newbies at sinabak sa isang practice game. The newbies were split into two groups, team A and team B.

It's our team's time to serve, so my teammate served the ball, and the oppossing team returned it to our side. The ball is hit back and forth over the high net, and no one wants to miss the shot and stop that exciting game.

Patuloy lamang ang palitan ng bola hanggang sa hindi masyadong natamaan ng isang kasama ko ang bola, but somebody hit the ball and it succesfully went on the other side. That made us earn another point. Maputi na matangkad ang babaeng nakatama ng bola. She looked familiar.
