It was poetic really, for the two of them to officially reconcile where everything began.

The sky overhead seemed to be as turbulent as his own mental state, clouds the colour of ash threatening rain as a strong wind danced mockingly around his muscular frame.

"Didn't think you were going to show."  The familiar voice called out in greeting as he reached the familiar set of concrete stairs where they would sit during free periods to discuss the world and what their future could possibly hold.

"I was about to say the same for you." Jungkook replied, forcing a smile as his older brother came to stand before him.

"Why here?" Jin asked with a sad smile, recalling memories of happier times between the two when life didn't seem as difficult.

"I thought it was apt, seemed to make sense to finish this where it all started."

"I guess that makes sense, this is where we started our journey."

"It just seemed like the right place to meet, call it dramatic but after everything that's happened it was the best place to finally end this."

Jin gave a nod, dark eyes falling across his younger brother.

"How does this end Jungkook?"

"How do you want this to end Jin?"

It wasn't the response Jin was expecting but he would try his best to work with anything he got, this couldn't be the end for them.

"I'm sorry Jungkook, truly" Jin sighed, taking a seat on the top step he smiled at the memory of when they last came here together.

"I still remember the promise we made the last time the two of us were here together." He scooted over as Jungkook came to sit beside him, relief overwhelming the older brother as he noticed the younger one smile.

"We promised that no matter what the future held we would always stick together, it was the two of us against the world." Jungkook recalled the memory and felt his heart ache, they both broke that promise didn't they.

"I know what you're thinking Jungkook and it doesn't have to be that way."

"I don't trust you Jin, that speaks volumes right? I should be able to trust my brother, what does that say about us? Where do we go from here?"

Jin deserved that, his younger brother still felt betrayed by his selfish actions and he knew it wouldn't be easy to build that bridge again.

"I've told you so many times what happened, my reasons behind it and the guilt which always accompanied me. I know it won't be easy for you to trust me again but you're my brother Jungkook, my life just doesn't make sense without you. I miss this, I miss us together and I'm truly sorry for hurting you."

"Do you regret it? If you could go back and change anything, would you?" Jungkook cocked a brow quizzically, sad brown eyes causing Jin's heart to ache.

"I do regret betraying you, I do regret my actions but I don't regret my time with her. I loved her Jungkook, a small part of me always will but I promise you that you've got nothing to worry about now. Y/N loves you, she picked you and after everything that's happened I couldn't ever do that to you again. It'll take time for me to fully move on but it'll happen eventually, this is my new promise to you. I promise to be a better man, a better older brother. I promise to protect you instead of ever betraying you again, I promise you honesty." Jin  swallowed back the lump that had formed in his throat, cursing the tears which threatened to fall.

Jungkook was still hurt by the betrayal but he was also well aware that he wasn't totally innocent in this either, it was time for a fresh start.

"I want to make you a new promise too." Jungkook cursed his voice for breaking from the emotion he was feeling, shaking his head as tears fell.
