80: The One With The Medication

CHERYL POV:

I walk into the trailer. "Toni! I'm here." I yell. "Topaz?" I ask to her room. She's sitting on her bed. "H-hey." She whispers. She looks up at me. "What's wrong?" I ask quietly. She shrugs. "Can we go to Pops?" She ask getting up and grabbing anything that doesn't smell. I stop her. "You're not ok." I whisper to her. "I'm fine." She whispers. "Can we just go to Pops? I haven't eaten today." I nod. "Just tell me you're ok." I whisper. She doesn't answer just walks to the door. "Toni!" I stop her. "Talk to me." I whisper. "I don't want to." She whispers. "Why?" I move hair out of her face. "Pops."

She scarfs down her burger. "Stop." I whisper. She looks up. I move her plate away from her. "What's wrong?" I ask quietly. "My medication was changed and it's not working." She whispers. "Which one?" I ask quietly. "Sleep. I haven't slept in a few days. I probably haven't gotten used to it. Because they slowly took me off it and slowly putting me on the new one." I take her hands and kiss them. "So how long are you going to give it?" She shrugs. "Maybe another month or so. Because it's going to take a while." She grabs her plate back and eats more. "I'm so tired I just can't sleep." She whispers.

"Toni come to bed." It's been a few weeks. She hasn't been sleeping, the only time she sleeps is when she passes out from being exhausted. "I'm fine." She whispers. "Ok, so come to bed." I whisper. "I can't sleep." She looks up. "How about you try to sleep." I suggest. She gets up from the table and walks over to me. "Just try." I turn off the small light in the kitchen and walk her into the bedroom. "But I can't sleep." She whispers. "Toni you need to at least rest your body." She lies on the bed.

TONI POV:

I can't sleep, I haven't slept in 3 days. I've been able to  get some sleep every once in a while but this has been going on for a month. Cheryl is asleep. I just get up, leave a note and go to Pops. I walk in and Veronica is there. "Hey Topaz." I sit at the counter. "Hey." She smiles. "I was told by your girlfriend that you're not allowed coffee." I smile. "Yeah. I've been having trouble sleeping." She grabs something from the kitchen. "Here." She gives me pancakes. "They should knock you out for a bit." She smiles. "What's been on your mind?" She ask as a inhale my food. "Nothing. Just Cheryl has been down my back about this." I whisper. "She's trying to help." I take a deep breath. "I know."

CHERYL POV:

I wake up the next morning and Toni isn't in bed. So I get up and walk out of the bedroom. There she is asleep at the kitchen table. I don't wake her because I know that it's the first time she's truly slept in a while. I text V and ask her to bring me some pops. Before she can knock I quietly open the door afraid Toni will wake up. "Hey V." I hand her the money. "Toni was at Pops around 3." She whispers. "I figured." I take a deep breath.

I think the meds are finally working. I let her sleep. She's been asleep for a few hours. She's not dead! She snores really fucking loud. "How's Toni?" Veronica ask quietly. "Fine." I whisper. "This is the most she's slept in a while." I take a deep breath. "I hope the meds are finally working."
