They gave the three elLans a choice of clothes worn by medical and scientific professional. They put on the scientific professional clothes.
Happy to be back on the Lan home world. They are in a room with many other Lans.
In the center of the room is a technological wonder of the universe. It is not made by the Lan.
In individual components, the item makes perfect sense. A pocket universe. A rift to access the pocket universe. Temporal time control within the pocket universe. You know, just basic stuff (for the Lans).
It is how it is packaged that is the technological wonder. A large container that looks like a spherical urn or vase. It lies on its side. The opening to the rift has a large transparent viewing material, which is affixed to the hinge with large bolt heads. You can see inside when it is closed. The material of the packaging can survive any environment in the universe. This thing gets the nickname, 'the kettle' because how it looks. It is made from every thread type known (just as are the creators of a kettle).
Inside it, Arlow Tsai and a significant selection of research equipment, and food, and clothes, and many other things someone might need for the long stay. The three elLans would perform tests and experiments in an environment where the passage of time outside would not match the passage of time inside.
Before she goes in, "1" slips around the back. She finds something she has never seen, but has heard about. It is a little imprint on the surface. It numbers the assembly with an ID and it says below that ID 'A Craft of the Sprites'
"1" runs her finger along those imprints. Rumors say they do it by the hand of one sprite for each device. Like the rumors have said, the feel of the material at the imprint does not match the visible letters.
She walks around to the opening again, looking at her finger. A technician pushes out one of his fingers. But she decided to make no introduction. Things might not so secure, so safe.
Arlow Tsai will take first priority.
