It was a warm and sunny day on a mostly smooth rock path.
There was something different about the sky. Something different about the view. Objects in orbit. Natural looking, but not Earth. Not quite the color of our sky. Not quite the same backdrop.
And the same for the tress and noises. Perhaps most striking was the birds. The noises made by the birds was.. very different.
Arlow was wearing cryo-pajamas, a complementary lounge coat, and slip-on shoes.
It did not take too long before he was puffing air, sweating, and possibly seeing the signs of pending leg cramps.
Arlow had always been active and exercised often.
But he also had been in cryo-sleep (something that just is not restful).
He was also breathing alien planet air.
Taking a moment to rest against a boulder three times his height, he found a food supplement cube. Benign and tasteless. Those cubes were to be his only food source.
Alien technology had sterilized all of Arlows internal biotics. He must eat the cubes, and no other food.
You need to chew the cubes thoroughly.
Arl felt a tiredness and let his eyes close. Such beautiful and strange sounds.
When he opened his eyes, the sun shadows had moved quite a bit.
He was on the upward climb of a hill or mountain. The top was not in sight. The sun was hiding at the edge of the upward path.
Arlow stayed against the boulder for the night. It gave a decent protection against chilled winds.
The path was clear to see in daylight, but Arlow knew the risks of trying keep to foot worn path in the dark.
He arranged the large lounge coat to cover his feet and ankles. Drawing his knees up and under.
He was sure that sleep would be an agreeable thing.
