"first" dresses quickly and tells them she is going out for an errand. She leaves by her own transport system and make a slight leap up before leaving. "second" is well trained in field effects, this was not a minor "tink" for jump nearby. No one would likely discern, except "second", but she thinks it was the "thumpk" of a jump across the galaxy. "second" resolves to scold her for risky transport jumps (only one transport field and a hope of avoiding misalignments by leaving just slightly elevated).
"first" arrives on a Lan world in Lan Space at a well know dirt circle. Used by locals when wanting to have a wide area for risky transports. She quickly leaves the wide area and goes for her errand. She finds a building which opens a door for her ID and goes to one third closet (at the top of three). The closet opens at her ID. "first" pulls down a box and removes a bundle wrapped in cloth and tied.
She holds the bundle against her like a prize, and transports back to Wroug, along the path she often walks (because it is a wide area that is infrequently traveled by others). "first" transports back to the apartment to find "second" and Ami.
"Second" is about scold "first", but becomes distracted when the bundle is opened. It is a very nice vintage-looking traveler's cloak. Ami should have it!
"second" thinks it is quite an accurate reproduction because it looks almost new. It is actually quite authentic and old, but has been some place where time did not match the chronological speed of the universe. It is young, despite its actual age.
Ami says "first" should keep it for being so nice. "First puts it on and says: "see?" It exposes much of her legs. "second" confirms that "first" might suffer, if seen wearing it, as it is clearly not her size.
They drop the cloak over Ami and "first" snaps a button up by the collar to size it. It is the perfect length. "first" describes slits that allows hands to stay either inside or outside. Ami imagines herself leaving Wroug wearing this. She would look like an alien, and maybe not attract too much attention.
"first" says: "Now, I should tell you about how THIS is a magic cloak!"
"second" enjoys the telling of "magic things" to the young, and wonders which version this will be.
"This cloak was a gift to me, and now a gift to you. I am sure you will not abuse it. However, if has a magic to it, which I will now pass to you. Should someday, we were to hand you a blaster, a zap gun, an effect ray, or a projectile device. Unless we tell you to show it, do not try to push the device out of the cloak. If we say 'blast them' or you feel afraid. You should just 'blast away' from behind the cloak. You see, this is the MAGIC of it. It is nice and pretty and I gave it to you. But its magic is in how it becomes the most worthless item in the entire universe when your safety is on the line. Got it?"
"second" has never heard a "Magic Item" story like that one before, but follows up in kind.
"Along those lines, Ami. Should we ever take you someplace and you were to see us getting hurt. You must know that Lan healing systems are refined and engineered over a very long time by a vast number of engineers making refinements. We are likely to heal completely, despite terrible looking damage. Those systems would not work on you, they could hurt you by trying to heal you as if you were a Lan. You need to run away in a case like that. Hide. If you are afraid, call out for help. Even if it is very soft whispers. You gave a gift to save a Lan. They would hear your cries for help, just repeat them over and over. The Lan will want you to be safe for the rest of your life. "
Ami is a bit worried about what kind of place the galaxy actually is.
"second" goes on some errands, and returns in only a few minutes.
"second" says: "OK, everything is settled. Visas and work are all settled. Your boss seemed to have already made arrangements, in expectation."
Ami is worried more. Will they be looking as I go?
In the cloak, she lifts the hood and imagines leaving. Maybe if they hold my hands, I will become less noticeable. Just two aliens with a third smaller alien.
She says to them: "Can I have you hold my hands as we leave planet Wroug?"
"first": "Ami, we will hold your hands everywhere and anywhere you go in the entire universe."
Ami's hands are held by elLans "first" and "second". They transport to the Wroug area for alien arrivals and departures. They walk into the area, and the Lans hold hands with Ami, so they have her encircled with an optimal dual transport field. They transport into Lan space and away from Planet Wroug.
