"second" asks, 'How did you know to leap for her? You moved before she showed visible signs of collapse.'
"first" holds her forehead to Ami's head and says: "I track her heartbeats (from the first day). I saw the pulse in her veins. That pattern changed, and perhaps some of it was context. That statement about a stage and 70 trillion Lans, it was dramatic."
All three Lan move to surround Ami on the floor. "first" gets acknowledging looks. That was an excellent catch.
About ten minutes later, Ami comes to. She finds the fingers of her hands intertwined with all three Lans. Her head is on a lap. Then Ami realizes that she has done it again. Twice in a day, she has collapsed.
Her reaction gets immediate consolation from the Lans. 'Relax Ami. We belong to each other now. You can relax. Practice your controlled breathing. We can wait until you feel better."
Ami: ""Ok. Yes, breathe. Tell me now that I am a Lan citizen. What next?"
"hubby" says: "You now have an ID. It will grant you access to any systems you buy&install. Until you get systems, there are terminals here you can use. You normally would have two hundred years to learn about Lan life, so I suggest you learn before taking actions. Probably you should just use requests for a while and not spend points. Endorsements (even implied) can have big consequences. Anything you buy can be broadcast publicly. When you feel better, we can show you."
Ami untangles herself and is shown a terminal in the primary room. She enters her ID and views her profile and status. Everything someone might have been able to see from a drone is listed (currently locked for her viewing only). There are numbers in the profile that count up (regard and spendable).
"hubby" says: "See those numbers, you are being given gifts. Lans from all over are grateful to you, Ami. Just be sure start slowly and ask us any questions you might have."
Ami says: "You told me that Lans might be suffering. What can be done about that? For them?"
"second" pulls up a chair next to Ami and says: "You could simply use this message feature to ask that others to look after any Lan like that. You could endorse organizations devoted to those causes. Here let me show you some search logic that provides message context, so you will see what is being discussed."
Ami says: "So I could send a message, now? Here do you think this would be OK? 'Please look for anyone suffering and try to help. Social causes, to prevent injustice, are important to me.' "
"second" looks to "hubby" and "first" then says: "Sure. That sounds like a nice first statement."
Ami sends it.
Moments later a face appears on the screen.
An elLan with a kind face says: "Hi Ami, I am from Lan Governance. Welcome to Lan Citizenship. Are you feeling Ok and feeling safe right now? I am likely to be watching over you for some of your early days. Do you understand?"
Ami says: "Uhh, Well Yes Sure."
[Governance elLan] says: "Good! Ok, you three. Back away to the prescribed distance and run your diagnostics."
They back away with smiles and say: "Acknowledged."
