Akira's P. O. V:

I sit on a boulder in a musty cave on Tenrou Island while reading The Lord of the Fairy. It's quickly become my newest favourite book, and I can clearly see why mum loved it so much.

It's been about a week since the other S-class mages, Momo and I left Hargeon Port to wait at Tenrou Island for the contestants. Today is the day of the trial, and Momo and I have been here since dawn. We're not usually up that early, but since this is an important event, we had to be.

It's boiling hot here on Tenrou Island, but, since I'm a water mage like Juvia, I'm not as affected by the intense heat as Momo.

Momo sits on the boulder beside me, eating a big strawberry. "It's about time to begin, huh?" She mutters around her strawberry.

"Uh huh," I mumble in response while nodding my head, without taking my gaze off my book.

"Wonder who it is we're gonna be fighting," Murmurs the pink furred cat. "Can you sense if anyone is approaching us right now?"

I take my nose out of my book for a moment to touch my foot to the ground, and I activate my Amber Earth Sense spell. I immediately pick up on two vibrations, and grin.

"Well, who is it?" Momo prompts me.

"You'll find out in a minute," I reply vaguely. I glance at Momo as I ask, "Did you pack the 'secret weapon' I asked you to?"

Understanding glimmers in Momo's purple orbs as she nods her head, smirking. Momo quickly finishes eating just as Mest and Wendy show up.

"It's Aki-chan and Momo-chan," The bluenette points out.

"Heh. This'll be easy," Mest says confidently, as he smirks at us.

I keep my gaze trained on my book as Wendy warns him, "She may be smaller than me, Mest-san, but, remember, Aki-chan was trained by dark wizards and is Fairy Tail's youngest S-class wizard

I keep my gaze trained on my book as Wendy warns him, "She may be smaller than me, Mest-san, but, remember, Aki-chan was trained by dark wizards and is Fairy Tail's youngest S-class wizard. You shouldn't let your guard down."

"She's right," I state, still reading. "Just because I'm younger and smaller doesn't mean you should get to relax quite yet."

I look up for a brief second to see the man glaring at me as a muscle flickers in his jaw. Seems as though I've struck a nerve.

"But," I continue, returning my attention to my book, "if you think you can take me, please, come at me."

"Okay!" The sound of running footsteps tells me that Mest is charging at me. He stops abruptly, however, when he sees that my attention is fixated on the book in my hands.

"What's the matter, Mest-san? I thought you said it'll be easy taking me on," I question, my gaze glued to my book.

"But... why are you reading that book right now? Aren't we in an exam?" Mest asks, sounding totally confused.
