Miku's POV
I was stuck in my bedroom, anticipating for that one reply... That one envelope that held two paths to the rest of my life.
Fail. Or Pass.
It's either you get in or you don't. The number of possibilities rang through about how both the written exam and practical went. I'd say my performance for both was, okay? Right? Nothing I'd consider bad happened in either them. But they're not looking for people who just do 'okay'... They're looking for the best of the best. Even if I don't make it in for the hero course, I still enrolled up for general studies.
"I don't think I'll make the cut..." I mumbled to myself, alone in my shared bedroom.
I was slouched on top of my desk, waiting and waiting and waiting. The analogue clock that was mounted on top of the window kept ticking and ticking and ticking. The time bomb for my patience slowly going away. That was until I heard a soft pulsing knock at the door.
"Miku-chan." It was Tsukauchi, his voice gently piercing through into my still room, "I have your letter—"
Within seconds I jolted out of my seat and flung my door to reveal Tsukauchi in his normal work fashion. His hand was outstretched out in front; he was holding the one thing that could change my life in an instant. "Here you go. Tell me how it goes." He said, placing the white letter into my hands and closing the door behind him.
It's here— My hands trembled in nerves as I dashed back to my seat, putting the suspiciously weighted letter onto my desk. I placed it, UA's candy apple red seal staring up at me. I picked at it carefully, trying to crack the letter open. The wax came off effortlessly, revealing the... bare (?) contents of the letter. Huh? What's this metal disc? I pulled it out and discarded the remains to my side. I centred the disc into the middle of my desk, seeing nothing much happening.
"Uhh..." I muttered under my breath, "Is this i—"
"HELLO LITTLE BEAN!" The hologram All Might shouted towards the camera enthusiastically. "I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!"
"GEH—" I yelped, scaring the nerves right out of me. "Oh my god— T-TOSHINORI-SAN!? WHY IS HE HERE?"
Here's a little explanation: when I was younger, I met All Might through Tsukauchi. They were like best friends in a way, so I got to see All Might more in real life than on TV. Which may sound strange that I know All Might, but he's just like a doting uncle I never had.
Whenever Tsukauchi needed to pick me up in elementary school, I would go with him to his meetings with All Might. Whenever he does visit, he always shared fun stories of his battles or stories of when he was younger. There was this one time, when I think I was around 10, and I first saw All Might in his non-hero form. I got to admit, it was pretty funny looking back on it now. The two of them started to freak out, and I just stood there very confused. It's quite wholesome, to say the least.
"To quickly answer any burning questions. Yes! I am now a teacher at UA! Now Miku-chan, for your written exam, you scored an excellent 92%! Well done!" Is it just me or do I feel like him and Present Mic talks in either in all caps or in exclamation marks—
WAIT— OH WOAH I ACTUALLY DID GOOD IN THE WRITTEN EXAM?! I normally don't get as high as that.
"NOW! Your practical exam, you scored yet an amazing 17 points! Quite impressive~" He said as a few clips of me destroying a few of those robots. "But this is UA! There's always more to it! And we believe you noticed that from the very beginning of the exam."
The projection suddenly showed me aiding towards the boy Kaminari and the others who I took the safest place during my time freeze. "The exam was not graded only on villain points! It was also graded on the sacrifice that people would take to save others, how can a hero course reject people who save others and do the right thing? In which, we think you saw through."
