----------------------> LYRA ADORED EVENTS, whether it be balls or galas or even victory parties. She liked the atmosphere that was created- the enchanting music playing in the background as everybody socialised, danced, ate and delicately sipped champagne. There was something completely relaxing about it, to her at least. Not to mention, it was an excuse to dress up.

That being said, Lyra always found herself preferring to be at a loud, noisy Quidditch match rather than at the Slug Club.

The Slug Club was a fond name given to the students that Potion Master, Professor Horace Slughorn, would favour and 'collect'. Twice a year, he would throw a lavish party inviting all the students he thought would go on to become extremely successful later in life.

Unfortunately, Lyra could not deny an invitation. Societal obligations and the fickleness of reputations prevented her from doing so.

That was how Lyra -dressed impeccably as always- found herself standing in front of the entrance to the party with a scowl twisted on her features.

Lucius, ever observant, noticed her expression. "Do you want me to say that you caught a migraine and had to stay back?"

Before Lyra could answer, Professor Slughorn -surrounded by a crowd of students and former students alike- spotted them standing underneath the archway, proceeding to wave them over.

"You won't have to lie. I can feel a migraine descending just by looking at this." Lyra stated, making a short, dry laugh escape Lucius' mouth.

"So we are doing this then?"

"Unfortunately, yes."

Lyra looped her arm into Lucius' tossing him a half-smile before the two entered the room, ready to passive-aggressively socialise.

The Slug Club provided a wonderful occasion for students of all houses to converse with each other. However, it also gave ex-students the chance to return and gloat to the current batches over how 'successful' and 'perfect' their lives were.

It was toxic, in a sense, considering that the alum was given free-reign to talk snidely to their juniors without fear of detention or loss of points (even if it hadn't stopped them before). In other events, all the attendees would be accompanied by their powerful parents. But in the Slug Club with only a majorly obtuse Professor Slughorn, all was fair.

It hadn't even been ten minutes since she and Lucius had arrived at the Slug Club when she encountered her first conceded alum.

"Lyra!" Heiress Elenor Bletchley smiled sweetly as she approached them. "And Lucius too! My, my, got together, did you?"

"Nearly, two years ago, yes," Lucius replied.

"How are you, Elenor?" Lyra asked politely.

"Lovely, thank you for asking," Elenor replied. "I'm interning under Master Ross in transfiguration and will be getting my mastery soon, I suppose."
