Chapter 27

"What is it that you need, father?"

He called me into an important meeting.

And this particular meeting didn't have my mother, which was quite strange, knowing she always shows up whenever father is here, or when I am forced to show up here.

"You'll see in a bit, Yukino. Also, I didn't allow your mother to come in. If you were about to ask that question. I'm gonna show you only me, you, and my workers are allowed to do."

He definitely was my father. He always knows the questions I am about to ask.

I followed him to a room that had walls colored with white.

Inside the room, were cameras set up, people who operated on the cameras, people who looked like journalists.

"What is the meaning of this, father?"

I asked him.

"There are 2 rooms connected to each other. Take a good look at that window."

There was a huge window on a wall, so huge that I didn't notice because the room behind that clear glass was also painted with white.

There was a person sitting on the chair, in front of him, was a small table full of cards.

And that person was...

"Hikigaya-kun? What is he doing inside that room? What are you going to do to him?"

There was no explanation as to why he was out of jail, nor was I informed he was out of jail.

"Don't worry. He is unaware of everyone's presence. He cannot see you through that window, but we can see him. During the terrorist attack when I had my speech, I was escorted by my bodyguards. We were in the room that monitored all security cameras. I was desperately trying to look for both you and Haruno. And then I stumbled upon you, and your best friend. And who was there to risk his life to save yours and your best friend?"

"Hikigaya-kun. Still this doesn't make sense as to why you've put him inside the room."

"I lost a good friend because he took his own life. Yukino... you have a wonderful friend. And right now.. he's battling his own mind. I was given the reports on him from the highway incident. Apparently he was suicidal, wanted to kill himself by making it look like it wasn't suicide. I don't want the same thing happening to you."

Father never told me anything about his past life. So I guess I was extremely lucky to know more about him, apart from being a politician and my father.

"Are you saying that you can help Hikigaya-kun?"

"Help? No way. I'm going to make you help him. But first, we need to make sure he admits the thing that he has done in the past and accept that it happened and no one can do anything about it."

"By?"

"I was also informed that he is a veteran. A young one. Therefore I brought someone who also is a veteran, the same military branch, but different war. Take a look."

The door of the room that Hikigaya-kun was in had opened.

And there was an unfamiliar man.

I was put into a small white room by some officers.

The only objects there was were 2 chairs, a small table and a deck of cards.

Was I put into a mental asylum? Probably not because I would hear screaming from the rooms next to mine.

Suddenly a door opens.
