The loud booming noise made me jump, and made Ammi almost drop her tasbeeh (prayer beads).
Papa only used that tone on one person: Bhai. I feel bad for my brother sometimes. Never, since his teenage years, has he ever deserved this tone, but Papa always took his frustration out on him, rather than Ammi or me.
