ADELAIDE
Today, finally I start running into the Maze. I'm literally over the moon right now.
Minho is my supervisor. He wakes me up quickly and motions me to follow him. We walk quietly across the Glade and go into the Map Room. He explains me how the Runners are required to take notes while they run and how after the day, are supposed to come to the Map Room and draw the new map. Then they are supposed to compare that section with the previous week's one and note down any changes.
Pretty easy.
Then, Minho takes me deeper into the Deadheads. It takes me a moment to understand that we are going to the Weapons Hut, as I named it. I keep my stone face façade as I follow him. Can't let him know.
"This," Minho smiles triumphantly, "Ally, is the Weapon Room." We enter the hut and I scan it. It is all same like it was weeks ago, when I'd come here, last. I nod. Minho frowns.
Minho hands me a bag. It has a notepad, pencil and some underwear.
"Why the hell do we need that?" I practically shriek , pointing at the underwear.
"To keep you nice and comfy." He grins at my horrified face..
"What- why are we having this conversation?" I almost gag in disgust.
Minho goes to a large cupboard and begin rummaging through. "What's your shoe size."
"I don't know." I look under my worn out boots, "7"
Minho gasp, laughing. "You have piano-toes. Like a clown."
I roll my eyes. "Do you have the shoes or not?"
He tosses me a 6 size shoes. "Creators didn't send a girl's shoes. This will fit you."
I slip my toes into the shoes and tighten the laces. I am already pumped.
"Now, for the main part." Minho announces grandly.
He walks towards the weapons. "We need to protect ourselves from any danger in the maze. Which usually is the Griever." He hand me a dagger.
"I have my own weapon." I smile, really wanting to enjoy what is coming.
"What?" Minho ask, confused.
"I have my weapon." I smile back but don't elaborate. Minho looks skeptical. I go and pick up the machete. But I'll still need this."
I walk back to Minho with my bow and the quiver strapped to my back.
