You/Mai Sakurajima - Forgotten

You hadn't noticed it at first. You were so used to people ignoring you or even forgetting that you were there that you didn't find it strange when people acted like you didn't exist. Things started to become strange when you couldn't even order anything at your favorites cafe shops or buy things because the cashiers simply just didn't acknowledge you. By the time you realized that those things were normal, it was too late for you. Your parents had simply forgotten about your existence. It was like you had been wiped off of the face of the Earth.

After finally finishing the last episodes of the season, Mai was able to finally head back home. She couldn't help but feel like something had changed after returning. There were pictures clearly missing in several parts of her apartment but she couldn't figure out why they were missing or what they were even of. Nothing comes to find after a while so she eventually gives up on figuring the mystery of the missing pictures.

She forgets all about it until she finally heads back to her bedroom. On her desk, there's a love letter written in her handwriting and for some reason Mai doesn't have memory of ever writing it. She couldn't even figure out to who it was for because the name was blurred. It was frustrating to suddenly have missing memories but she could at least piece together that the missing pictures had something to do with the person whose name was blurred on the paper.

You're not even hurt when you see Mai finally coming back to school. If your parents didn't even acknowledge your presence then there was no way that Mai would even acknowledge it. It stung but at least with her around you were able to get back a little bit of happiness. Mai always managed to cheer you up. At least with her not realizing that you existed, you could tell her everything that you never could. How you loved her and wished that you had more courage to tell her about your feelings.

Mai couldn't help but feel like someone was following her around. Said presence wasn't disturbing but it made her feel uncomfortable because she had no idea about what or who it was. She had a feeling that it was something to do with the pictures and letter but she wasn't sure.

Sakuta is the one that manages to fill in the pieces for her. She had told him all about the pictures, letters and the sudden presence. His explanation hadn't made sense at first. Mai even found it downright ridiculous but she couldn't deny the fact that it explained everything.

"So what am I supposed to do Sakuta? How do I even figure out the identity of said person? I can't even help them because I don't even know who I'm helping."

"I can't guarantee that it might work but I think you need to read that love letter in front of the school."

"What?! Are you crazy?!"

"Hear me out before you start slapping me. You started feeling this presence in school right? So I'm assuming that the school is the reason why they disappear. If you get the school to start to acknowledge their existence then they'll hopefully come back."

Mai sighed as she looked at the letter. It was incredibly detailed and she just knew that it would be posted all over.

"Fine. I'll do it."

You found it strange when Mai didn't show up for class. Once school ended, you stopped following her around to give her some privacy and then met up with her in the morning before her class started. You wanted to go out and find her but you got distracted by the rest of the students suddenly rushing to the windows to get a better look of something. You make your way over to a window to find Mai screaming at the top of her lungs.

Halfway through her speech, you realize that she was talking to you. She talked about the memories that the two of you shared and eventually revealed how she felt about you. It was shocking to hear it and you couldn't even move after she finished.

"What are you waiting for?! Go get your girlfriend!"

You don't have to be told twice as you run down the stairs to meet up with her.

"Mai!"

Mai turns around just in time for her to catch you as you throw yourself at her. In her arms, you leaned in to kiss her. The two of you only pull apart when the principal gets after the two of you. Neither of you even cared that you had been given detention. All that mattered was that you were back and that the two of you felt the same about the other.
