So this is an author's note in order to say, thank you to those who have been reading my The Darkest Awakening series. I'll also be talking about the concepts behind the entire series. I started this series when I was 13 and the original concept was a group of Australian young adults. But didn't know their purpose before thinking of astrology and stuff. Mainly Western and Chinese astrology. That's how The Darkest Awakening was born.

At first, I was thinking of just a short story before extending it into a series. With more culturally diverse characters and not only there are young adults but also teenagers. And I've continued this series for about a year and a half. Almost 2 years. This is the longest consecutive series I've written on Wattpad. Ever since I first started when I was 11. But here we are now.

The characters here are based on celebrities and people I know personally. It was originally a 5sos fanfiction before turning it into something else. This is more of an AU multifandom fanfiction with a lot of fictional things happening in this book. Which has a mysterious and dark twist compared to my previous books. Also for the sake of having mature audience.

This series also contains an almost all-male cast because I feel like making a series about girls is a bit overrated. So I decided on an almost all-male cast because we need to know what the male characters are going through. And that not all men could be able to 'man up.' I've seen it because the majority of my idols are male and I grew up with guy friends. Don't worry feminists, I also have female characters too but they are not really that soft in the series.

And for the powers and amulets, I've been having this concept ever since I started Wattpad. But with pre-teen and teenage characters with the lack of young adults. Along with that, they're kid-friendly. So in order to blend in with Wattpad's mature audience, I decided to use this concept with The Darkest Awakening. But this time, with darker and elemental powers and with young adults as well.

Now for the culturally diverse characters. The ensemble cast is a lot more diverse than my previous books. We have characters who are Australian, American, Canadian, New Zealand, British, Norwegian, Irish and Mexican by nationality. Along with that, we have characters who are of Polynesian, Caucasian, Jewish, Asian, Middle Eastern, Hispanic and African descent.

This is for the sake of diversity because it spices up the series. Having a cast with just one race is going to make the series more plain and boring. Which is why an ensemble cast is what I'm going for and this would continue on in my future works. But I don't want the characters to be stereotypical for the sake of preventing online cancelling.

And now, what would happen to the future of The Darkest Awakening? To answer that, the series would go on but with new characters and the same concept as the previous instalments. Volume 5 would talk about teenage drama thanks to Zach now becoming leader. It would focus on mental health and problems Gen Z has to face.

Everything would be different starting from Volume 5 onwards. And would have a unique concept even though I'll still keep the concept of amulets, heroes and powers. Because I'm Asian, I decided to add Asian influence to it. With the clear use of martial arts during battles such as Arnis, Muay Thai and Taekwando. Along with mixed martial arts being used in the series as well.

Anyways, to conclude everything. Luke and Brad's era of The Darkest Awakening (Vol. 1, 2, 2.5, 3 and 4) is coming to an end. Which means that Zach's era is coming up and Volume 5 would be released on the 19th of April 2021. See you guys there, bye.
