Camila's POV

My palms slid down against my rib cage as I turned back to face the mirror in which I'd been staring at myself for hours now perfecting what was supposed to be a place landing audition at the famous Jauregui Arts Foundation.. with one day left of rehearsal I couldn't help but feel anxious as the woman in charge was detailed to be more than a stuck up rich entitled BITCH!

I hated preconceived judgments on people.. it felt rude and bratty but? She was.. I'd grown up reading about her family and their dance academy.. everyone who was anyone would give an organ just to dance under their name including me! When Jauregui took over the foundation the numbers only began to grow given her ability to land any dancer wherever they desired to be! That's what set my anxiety so high.. I didn't stand a chance!

"Camila.. mama.. you missed the step again!"

Sam called from across the studio, my best friend.. we'd grown up together going to dance classes and entering into the pageant competitions in which we always came first or close! He was my rock, my brother.. my reassurance. I dropped my hands throwing my head back with an aggravated huff knowing every step had been out of place due to the burnout quickly seeping into my mind..

"I know! But I have to get this right? You know what that woman is like.. I saw a video of her literally slapping a girl for wearing the wrong kind of shoe.."

"Yeah well you dance better than any of her little stars mama.. you're going to kill this! But right now maybe some sleep?"

"Just one more time.."

I begged clicking my fingers exhaustedly prompting him to restart the song I'd spent months choosing after hearing of the latest auditions, it was true Jauregui was harsh, videos of her authority had gone viral on more than one occasion, I'd even read an article that stated just how malicious she could be when offering her a sadistic side glance, she sounded terrifying! Like a monster in a mythical tale.. strong willed and bold.. forward and rude! The only problem was however that she held the key to my future! I had to impress her!

I waited for the first few lines of the song to begin before starting where I'd last messed up immediately turning into a sliding fall that left my hands slapping the ground with an angered grimace of defeat.. I was done for tonight obviously! Sam paused the music strutting behind me with folded arms and a look I knew not to let phase me.. 'I told you so'

"We're going home! Auditions are tomorrow and you're more than ready mama.. come on!"

I sighed to myself deciding to take his extended palm that helped me onto my feet with a hearty pull, every inch of my body ached even my stomach.. nothing felt right, with the 60 person audition and promised 3 person space I couldn't help but doubt my abilities to the point I felt utterly sick.. still.. I had to try!

"You really think she's as mean as they say? You know in the articles?"

"God I hope not.. even if she is though? Ignore it! She needs you and you have to show her that!"

Sam smiled as we walked towards the door with our jackets over arm and our bags dangling beside our tired thighs, the walk home long and never ending as we finally separated across the street in our opposite facing houses, I still lived with my mom and dad.. life was hard when you didn't have a 'career' but my mom never minded, my dad however..
