Lucifer and Cordelia had a sad flight home to Seattle, neither wanted to leave bright and sunny California to the dreary Seattle weather. Lucifer enjoyed weather like Seattle's much more, but he liked seeing Cordelia warm in the sun. She seemed at home there. Maybe he would have to look into buying a vacation home down there sometime soon.

Lucifer couldn't forget the conversation they had at the beach about Cordelia's aging. In fact, it made him sick to think about it. He definitely didn't want to lose her and she made him realize that their time together would just fly by. He told her that they would have plenty of years together, and that was true but they didn't feel as long to him anymore since he's lived for so many centuries. He sighed as he finished the last of his work for the day. He had asked Cordelia to move in with him about a month back so she would be there waiting but he wanted to stop off at the local bar before he went home. He needed a strong drink, not that it would do much for him. The alcohol here wasn't as potent as some of the ones in Devildom.

He was getting ready to leave the office when he got a phone call from Cordelia. "Hey, Luci... Um... I'm not alone at the house." She sounded a little off. "What? Are you okay? Who is there?" He asked."I think it's some of your brothers?" She responded. He could really use that drink now. "Which ones?" He sighed. "Hey, hey, hey big bro! This is THE Great Mammon." - "Yes, I got that." - "Ugh Lucifer, why didn't you tell us you had such a gorgeous creature living here with you. It's Asmo by the way." - "Thank you for the information." Lucifer sighed. Of course, it would be those two. What were they doing there? "Asmo, keep your hands off of Cordelia and Mammon... Don't do anything stupid! I'm on my way home." - "Yeah, Ya better hurry it up. Lord Diavolo's comin' in soon." Mammon added. "Shit," Lucifer whispered under his breath as he hung up the phone.

Lucifer got home to see Diavolo waiting for him outside. He was angry and for good reason. "Lucifer, you left without much warning, without my permission. That's not like you and I'm shocked. This girl really means this much to you to go over my head?" He asked. "Yes. She does." Lucifer was even surprised by his answer. Diavolo was secretly happy for his friend but also worried. This girl was becoming a big part of Lucifer's life. Would he potentially leave Devildom and his family for someone here, in the human realm? Would he even let him? He wanted to but Lucifer had been by his side for hundreds of years, how could he continue without him.

"I expected better of you. I still need your assistance." Diavolo said. Lucifer was upset. What more could Diavolo need? He was about to speak up but... "Of course, I suppose you could do your work here in the human realm, but you would have to make trips to Devildom pretty often. The choice is yours. Stay in Devildom and visit Cordelia or stay here, and visit Devildom." Diavolo knew where Lucifer's heart was, he knew the answer but he still had to hear it. "I want to stay. She needs me and I need her." Lucifer confirmed. "Very well." Diavolo sighed. He was still very angry at Lucifer for leaving as abruptly as he did but he was in love. What could be done?

After their conversation, Lucifer rushed into the house to find Asmo sitting on the couch with Cordelia sitting on cushions in front of him on the floor. Was he...? "Look! Asmodeus is French braiding my hair!!" She gleamed. Of course, he was braiding hair, as much as Lucifer was worried about him making an inappropriate move on Cordelia, the one he was worried about most was... "MAMMOOOOOOON!" He yelled loudly. Making the other three jump. Mammon came barreling down the steps in seconds. "What!? I ain't doing nothin'!" He shouted. "Double negative, Mammon." Lucifer sighed rubbing his temples. He caught his brother by the jacket and inspected his person. "Mhmm, just as I suspected." Lucifer pulled out some of Cordelia's necklaces and the charm bracelet that Lucifer had gifted her for their anniversary from Mammon's jacket. "Hey, how'd you find my secret pocket!?" Mammon argued. "The bulge gave it away. Pack less next time." Lucifer smirked, smacking the back of Mammon's head. Lucifer handed Cordelia her jewelry back. "Hide these, please. Keep them safe." He whispered and kissed her head.

He caught up with his brothers for a few minutes and then pulled Diavolo into his office. He needed to talk with the prince about his conversation on the beach. There were only two options and he knew that one was not going to be taken lightly. 1.) He could accept that Cordelia would grow old and die long before Lucifer showed any wrinkles on his face from age or 2.) He could do the unthinkable and give up his immortality. It was a possible thing to be done, but demon nor angel seemed to ever go through with it in the end. He loved her though, he was sure of it and he didn't want to lose her and be alone once she was gone. The only thing standing in his way, or should we say, person... Was Diavolo himself. Only he could grant mortality to his own kind.

"NO! Absolutely not!!" Diavolo yelled as he stood from his chair practically launching it out of the office. Cordelia and the brothers could hear the yelling from across the house and it startled them. "Wait here, ma chérie." Asmo winked at Cordelia then he and Mammon hurried down the hall. Diavolo and Lucifer were in their demon forms when the brothers arrived. "What the hell is going on here?" Mammon shouted also bursting into his demon form, along with Asmo. "This will change everything! What about your brothers?" Diavolo growled. "I think this arrangement would be quite beneficial to them." Lucifer scoffed. "What are ya talkin' about?" Mammon butted in. "How would you giving up your immortality benefit your siblings!?" - "Wait, Lucifer wants to give up his what!?" Mammon squeaked. "They would all be boosted up a rank." Lucifer stated. "No, it would cause them to fight amongst themselves to create new ranks, Satan would have a field day!" Diavolo yelled.

It was silent. The Lucifer wanted to give up his long life for a simple human. How were they supposed to feel about that? The brothers had finally calmed the demon lord and Lucifer down but their faces revealed their anger toward each other. Diavolo had denied Lucifer's request, but he wouldn't give up. He wanted this, he wanted a family with the one woman he truly loved. "Why would you want to give up your life, Lucifer?" It was Mammon that broke the long halt in conversation. He was genuinely concerned for his big brother. Lucifer gave him everything. He taught him how to be a strong angel and a strong demon as well. Sure, he gave Lucifer a lot of issues, but it was just in his character. He was sad... Part of him thought it was his fault. Not his fault alone but the fault of his brothers for being such a burden. If they would have just shown him more respect, would he have gone on this trip, to begin with?

"I'm sorry, Mammon. Don't worry, I know what you're thinking. It isn't because of you all. I just found peace here and I found someone that I want to spend the rest of my life with. The problem is, the rest of my life is longer than hers. I don't want to watch her get older, while I just stay the same. I don't want to watch her die while I still have breath in me!" Lucifer told him. "It's adorable that you are in love sweetie, but don't you think you are being a little impulsive?" Asmo asked. "After all, this is just one human. You have had a few human lovers, have you not? Why is she so different? This is a big decision to just let go so lightly." He added.

"I have been thinking about it. It's not like I just decided today. Cordelia is a human, and yes I have had many lovers in my time but she just sparks something in me that I haven't felt in a long time. She makes me smile more than I have for a while now. She brings out a playful side to me that I thought I lost. Up here, in the human realm, I have no qualms. I can live my life free and comfortably, I have made friends, and I have found love." Lucifer smiled. "You're a demon, Lucifer!" Diavolo cut in. "If anyone finds that out, your life will come crashing down. I'm glad Cordelia stayed by your side but what about Bill? What about your other colleagues, your friends?" He asked. "How would they ever find that out? If I were to become mortal, I would keep the alias of Lucien Morrow and live as I have, nothing would have to change." It was true, but on the inside, he had to admit that Diavolo had a point.

After a long talk, nothing was accomplished. Lucifer was still determined to be with Cordelia, but Diavolo was adamant that he would not get his request. The demons split and went to their rooms. Lucifer returned to find Cordelia curled up in their bed sound asleep. She looked so beautiful and he couldn't help but smile fondly at her. She was the one. She was his other half, the one who made him whole. He would get his way. They would grow old... Together.
