V/N - Villain Name

Y/N's P.O.V.

When I first met him, I had no idea how far we'd come.
Steve Rogers was a hero and I was a villain, we were supposed to hate each other, and yet, I found myself falling for him a little more each time we met.
He didn't know who I was behind the mask, so when I ran into him in my local coffee shop, he thought I was just another flustered fan. He was so sweet and polite, insisting I sat with him and we just talked.
It felt wrong in a way, but when he asked to see me again and gave me his number... I couldn't say no.
I wanted to tell Steve who I was, but before I knew it, we were dating and it was too late. How do you tell a man that you're his enemy after he confessed his love to you? His enemy who slowly stopped committing crimes and disappeared from society?
Steve made me want to be a better person.
I loved him.
So, when he proposed after 18 months of us dating, I didn't hesitate to say yes.

"Y/N, oh god..." I looked away from the engagement ring on my finger, seeing my best friend, Pepper, looking at something on her laptop, her hand covering her mouth.

"What is it?" I asked carefully and she closed her laptop, turning the TV on. We both watched in disbelief as the news showed the Avengers getting pretty beaten up by, what looked like, HYDRA agents.
"No..."

"It looks like the Avengers are outmatched. No one has seen the Hulk and there are fears that this is a fight the heroes may lose." The news reporter shakily spoke, looking into the camera as Natasha Romanoff could be seen in the background, clearly in some kind of knife fight. We're they even allowed to film that? Never mind broadcast it...
"Several Avengers have already had to retreat due to their injuries-"
There was an explosion of some sort and I watched as my fiancé was thrown back, dirt and blood covering his skintight suit.
I stormed out of the room, not wanting to see anymore.

"Y/N!" Pepper called after me, but I didn't stop, not even when I made it out of the building. The fight itself was only happening a few blocks away and I suddenly thanked myself for wearing comfortable clothes that I could run in.
People complained as I sprinted passed them, running faster than your average human. There were some perks to being an ex lab rat, I supposed.
People rushed away from the scene, but some, such as news reporters, stayed. Police and camera crews were everywhere.

"I can't let you passed, ma'am." A policeman held his hands out in front of me and I took a few steps back as I watched Steve fall.
I took another few steps back, before running straight at the officer.

"Sorry." I side-stepped, jumping over the barrier and picking up the Vibranium Shield that had been dropped. I barely dropped down next to Steve in time to cover him from the bad guy with a big gun.
"Hey, Stevie. I think you dropped this." I smiled innocently.

"Y/N?!" Steve looked at me with wide eyes, full of fear.
"What are you doing? You have to get out of here before you get hurt."

"It's gonna be okay." I forced a small smile.
"I love you, okay, remember that?"

"Y/N-"

"Steve, I'm serious." I cut him off.
"I love you and I'm so sorry." He looked at me with a confused frown. I stood up quickly, throwing the shield, successfully taking out two agents, before I caught it again, surprising Steve. I pulled him to his feet, before pushing the Vibranium into his hands.

"How are you... I never showed you how to do that." Steve muttered.

"You didn't need to." I smiled weakly.
"You've thrown it at me enough times, I just copied you." I shrugged, just as a HYDRA agent approached me with a knife. I disarmed him easily, moving out of the way of the camera crews, before killing him. Steve looked horrified and I looked at him with a slight glare.
"What? Don't recognise me without my mask, Captain?" I asked, my voice altering slightly into my 'bad guy' voice.

"V/N..." So many emotions flashed over his face, but the one that shone the brightest was betrayal.
"Y/N, you can't be-"

"I am." I cut him off.
"I used to be." I hesitated.
"You're hurt. You need to leave."

"So you can escape?" He scoffed.

"I'll hand myself in." I shook my head.
"I just can't handle you looking at me like that."

"Like what?" He scoffed.
"Like the murderer that you are?" I looked down at that, laughing weakly to cover up the pain.

"Yeah. I am a murderer. A monster. Nothing is going to change that." I scoffed.
"I'm evil. I'm V/N. I'm Experiment 44. And... I'm in love with you, so please get out of my way before I make you and I'd really prefer not to do that."
