{1st Alternate Ending}

After the War is Won-Bucky's POV

Steve hugs me in a way that I know exactly what's about to happen, he's not coming back. I hug him as tight as I can, feeling my hope drain from my heart and mind at the same time.

"Don't do anything stupid until I get back." he smiles

Sarah turns her head in pure confusion at what he just said, maybe she's heard it before.

"How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you." I say when I rock on my feet

He looks into my eyes, probably trying to read me.

"I'm gonna miss you, buddy." I whisper as we pull away

"It's gonna be okay, Buck." he says before walking away

He goes over to Sarah, who doesn't know that he's leaving her until I watch her face change.

"You lied to me and to Uncle James." she accuses quietly

"What did I lie about?" he questions

"I know that you're supposed to love your wife more than your children, but you're leaving me to be with her. Yes, I have Uncle James, but he needs you just as much as I do." she whimpers

"I'm going to go be with you from when you were little, that birthday party won't happen."

"You only told Uncle James that you were there until the end of the line to get him back to himself on that helicarrier. He's the only person who meant what they were saying." she cries

"When did he tell you about that?"

"In Bucharest, I was there for a little while."

"It's for the greater good." Steve tries

"This is the greater good." she sobs

"Sarah.." I lead out

"I can't believe you." she says getting more angry at him

"Why don't you come back with me? We can finally be a family with your siblings and uncles." Steve tries to reason

"What about Maria? If you go back, she most likely won't exist. Which means that what she did to save Uncle James and Natalia would have never happened. You'll mess up the timeline." she says as she holds Morgan's shoulders while she stands in front of her

"I do, but I can make sure that it doesn't happen." he says

Sarah lets go of Morgan, allowing her to go over to Pepper.

"That party wouldn't have happened without Daniel, whom if you go back to stay with Ma, his life could be ruined. Even if the party didn't end up happening, they would have found a way to get at least one of us. For all we know, they could have taken Ma like they threatened to oh so many times." she argues

"Really?" he asks sarcastically

"Yes, plus what makes you, Uncle James and I are any less of a family?"

"The fact that Peggy is my wife and your mother. Of anything, you and Bucky are a family all in itself. You two don't need anything or anyone than each other, whether you like it or not. Since we rescued you from Sokovia, I've been jealous of you and Buck's relationship. He is true family to you, just as he is to me." Steve says as he puts his hand on Sarah's shoulder
