February 19 1944-Steve's POV

I got off duty early today, so I've dedicated it to spending time with my family tonight. Now, Peggy has to work later which I feel sad about that she can't be with me and Kathy until she comes home for dinner, which I will be making tonight.

While I walk back to the tent I see the movement behind the canvas until I push the flap open to see the nanny helping Katherine drink some water.

"Pa!" Kathy exclaims when she sees me

She tries her best to run to me, I pick her up from the floor and set her up on my other hip, me kissing her on the cheek multiple times like

"Where's Ma?" she asks me

"She's not home yet, but i'm here." I say in fake disappointment

"Why are you upset, Pa?" Katherine coughs out

"You like her more than you like me." I fake cry

"No I don't." she shakes her head in an extravagant manner

"You don't?!" I ask in fake shock

"I love you and Ma." Katherine tells me

The nanny walks into the living room while Katherine's drawing shapes on my shoulder.

"Do you still need me here, Mr. Rogers?" our nanny, Barbara asks

"For just a little while longer, I need to start dinner." I smile slightly

"I can start dinner, I saw the meal prep in the cooler." she suggests

"Would that bother you? I can't pay you much extra for doing that." I nod sadly

"Take it as a 'Thank you for your Service', Mr. Rogers." she smiles

"I really appreciate it." I tell her before I look back down at Katherine

She nods before dismissing herself to the kitchen, allowing me to think of what I can do with my kids.

"Were you good today?" I ask her

"Yes, I even got to walk around outside for a couple of minutes." Katherine mentions as she walks her fingers up my shoulder like a set of legs

"That tickles." I give her a fake serious face

"Oh, sorry Pa." she apologizes

I flip us over on the couch to begin tickling her, though i'm more gentle with her than she is with me because she's learned i'm not easy to hurt anymore. She laughs to her heart's content, as it sounds Heavenly melodical to my soul. Her laughter makes me smile more than I thought I ever would in my life.

I can't explain how elated Peggy and Kathy make me, there's no word that I can think of to help someone understand how much I love my family; even my unborn baby.

I play around with Kathy for a little while longer before Peggy walks through the door with a tired smile on her face. She walks up to me facing the wall that the couch is against as Kathy almost climbs on top of me, to use me to get to Peggy.

"I don't see your father anywhere." Peggy says in a jokingly clueless tone

I feel Kathy walking up and down my back, I try staying as silent as I can. Instead I end up laughing just enough to where she falls off of my right side. I put my right arm out behind me and catch her in my arm, turn my body and sit her in my lap.

"There's your Pa!" Peggy says to mess with the young girl

I reach out to hug Peggy while i'm sitting down, but Barbara catches our attention by walking into the living room with her pocket book in hand, looking at us with a questioning expression.
