Sarah's POV

"Doll?! It's Steve, he wants to talk to you for a little bit." Tătic shouts

I run into his room and snatch the phone from his hand's grip, tearing it and bringing it to my ear as I expect a coily strong to yank me back.

"Hi, Pa." I hum

"Hi, Honey. I have a surprise for you."

"Really?!" I gasp

"I want you to go outside." Steve instructs

I run down the staircase of the super soldier-compound apartment and through the doors out to the landing pads then the tarmac to continue to walk to the open field.

"Now look up at the stars." Pa directs

I crane my head up to see the dark night sky filled with stars that are usually blinded by light pollution in the city. I look all around until something abnormal catches my eye.

"You see that blinking light headed your way?" he asks

"Uhuh." I watch it

"I'm in that jet."

Is he coming back to us?

"Why don't you come home?"

"We're tracking this guy by the minute right now, but..i'm sending something down. Can you see that parachute? Catch it when it gets to you." he continues

I watch the parachute puff as it gets closer to the ground, I run over to it and see a stack of envelopes tied together. I grab the stack with its parachute and hold them to me only for the scent of my father's cologne and my old home to flood my senses from the paper stack in my arms.

"I want you to read those while i'm gone, I wrote those before you were born." Pa mentions

The letters from the box?

"You're not coming back yet?" I sniffle

"No Baby, but i'll be back in a few days-"

"Steve.." Nat's voice warns

"Hi, Nat!" I smile to myself as I stand outside

"Hey, Margo."

Margo..

I like it.

"We miss having you guys here." I sigh

"We miss you too." Sam gags

"What are you doing?" I chuckle

"Nothing, he's just getting a little motion sickness."

"You know exactly how motion sickness feels, Pa. Give the man some sympathy." I point out

"Yeah, give the man some sympathy." Sam grunts

"I miss tag teaming people with you." I sigh

"I know, but in a few days we can scare the living death out of people." Sam mentions

"Hey, give me my kid back." Pa calls out

"Did you take the phone?" I chuckle

"Yeah, what's up Knighty?" Sam asks happily

"I want my proxy family back, the rest of it."

"We'll see you at a better time, lemme give you back to Cap-he's getting grumpy from having deprivation of his real family."

The audio gets tossed around until I hear Pa's winces in the phone which alarm me, but not enough to break my excitement from finally being able to talk to them. I sit down in the grass to allow myself to wallow in how lonely it living here with just Uncle James, Tony, Rhodey, Maria and Cappie feels.
